Dollhouse is Totally Awesome – Sadly Too Late

by Bruce Simmons on December 19, 2009

Cinema Static perspective:  The last 2 weeks (4 hours) of Dollhouse has actually become a very fluid story line that makes so much more sense than the entire 1st season of Dollhouse!  As much as I wanted to enjoy Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, I had a bit of a time trying to feel the flow of the story.  It was just a wee bit too sporadic in developing plot for me.

The mythology never developed smooth enough.

Yet now that we are in the 2nd and final season of Dollhouse is not only pulling out all the stops, it’s cranking out a developing plot that has an end game in definite sight.  Dang!

The stories are warped with Joss’s trade irony-humor and the typical sets of story twist ups.  I never thought I’d see Ballard go down, but then again, it was Alpha doing the taking.  Wasn’t Alan Tudyk just on-spot insidiously crafty?

Yea, me too.

And then the latest episode where we watched Victor get released from his contract and we finally got to see the Attic of Dollhouse, and what it really is.  I did NOT see that coming?  Did you?  Adelle was ticking me off like there was no tomorrow until the end revealed the real haps underneath it all.  (How’d you like that… A spoiler free perspective.  I think.)  And despite the show ramping up the intensity, the damage had already been done from the fragmented 1st season and the ratings from last Friday night were rather dismal with 2.1 million viewers.

Dollhouse tidbit:  If you didn’t know, December 16th was the last day of production and January will see the Dollhouse series finale.  In the finale, Alan Tudyk will return to reprise his role of Alpha…  that can’t bode well for the Dollhouse staff.

I believe the final episodes return January 2nd 2010 and the last one airs January 22nd.
