Well 2009 is about to become a memory like so many years gone by. I almost forgot to write my DVD Release Report this weekend because all I’ve been thinking about is “AVATAR” since I watched it on Friday. (Check out my Avatar review)
This is the last holiday week, and while there’s some real great films coming out the list is shorter then usual. Of course I’ve removed a lot of the workout and boring mathematical DVD’s coming out. If any Cinema Static readers want me to include those in the future let me know.
My DVD movie pick and second best film of the year is out this week! District 9 the debut directorial epic by Neill Blomkamp finally arrives, and just in time! Also the classic Philadelphia Experiment is re released this week. Great film I highly recommend it even as a great Christmas Day viewing with the family.
On TV DVD this week, the hilarious Family Guy Star Wars parodies Darkside (Empire Strikes Back) and Blue Harvest (Return of the Jedi), blast into your DVD player! The epic TV series Taxi wraps up its DVD run in a Final Season set as well as a Complete Series. I tell ya, Taxi is one of my favorite sitcoms from the 80’s and I would love the Complete Set for Christmas Santa. :-)
My Blu-ray pick of the week is, you guessed it! District 9 has some of the best CGI effects I’ve ever seen, spectacular story, memorable performances, amazing ride! (See Cinema Static’s District 9 review.)
