What is in store for 2010? I could go through all the trouble of sifting and sorting stats to take a wild guess at who would best survive the wrecks and failed parts to win a championship.
I could step out on a limb and conjecture if Jimmie Johnson will or will not win a 5th title. (I’m cringing, waiting for the inevitable “Strive for Five” phrase to start populating the press and citizen journalist sites.) Winning is mostly skill peppered with luck. I think the luck part is going to stick its foot out in their path in 2010, and not in a good way.
Of course with Jimmie Johnson slated to become a father in July, egads, once he’s on that high everyone might just have to look out!
I could conjecture that Danica Patrick won’t win a Nationwide race this year, but will probably stir something up when her feathers get ruffled in a race. She does have something to prove, being a female driver, that she won’t take crap from anyone.
Word on the street is that Danica Patrick is as “spirited” as Kyle Busch. I can see these two maybe getting into each other and then wondering A: Who would actually step in to break up that fight, and B: Who’d win!?
Here’s what I am going to take my guesses at:
- A car will win 30+ races this year.
- Most of the races will be won by Chevys and a few Toyotas.
- Multiple drivers will get in trouble for how they drive.
- A few crew-chiefs will be handed big fines and enforced vacations.
- Fans will get ticked off at NASCAR for yet another inconsistent rule call. (Probably more than once)
. . . I can’t come up with any more generic, safe predictions at the moment, but there it is. NASCAR Bits & Pieces predictions for 2010. (Yes, I can be a smart-a**!)
