Last night’s big football game, the Super Bowl delivered the underdog win off a brilliant interception that sealed the fate of the game, at least for one team. Congrats to New Orleans.
But the real stress of the game, unlike normal football games, is that you can’t take a bathroom break during the ads. And this year, it was well worth it.
I felt that the last 2 years were pretty off as far as ads went and I came away being bored to death by them, but through the first quarter and up to 1/2 time, we got hit with some pretty decent stuff.
There’s still a lot of hoopla going on about the Tebow ad, but hey, it is what it is. Some are saying that maybe they should have taken the money spent on the ad and spend it on teen pregnancy efforts.
But there were some classic heart-string pullers like the Budweiser draft horse and his buddy, the calf, turned Longhorn cow. You can always count on a draft horse & friend ad from Budweiser. (Tidbit: But U Deserve What Every Individual Should Expect Regularly.)
But Budweiser didn’t let us down after that. Oh no! We had the brilliantly funny Bud Light commercial that pulled of the parody of ABC’s Lost. Screw the radio communications… we just found the fridge with beer in it!
Then there was the Betty White & Abe Vigoda ad. I found that to be rather funny, when I stopped cringing, to watch Betty White get tackled.
The one ad that took me down for the count as far as laughing pretty hard was the Doritos commercial and the bark-collar. I did not see that coming when the dog slapped the collar on the guy, and then started barking next him.
A true gem!
I hope you enjoyed the same!
