The Bachelor Recap: Home Town Dates

by Bruce Simmons on February 8, 2010

Jake on The Bachelor

Tonight was the home town dates on The Bachelor, where Jake heads “home” to meet the potential in-laws.  Here, the guy can take a predictive measure of how the young lady might turn out “down the road!”

That’s a subtle, underlying funny guy-code we don’t really take seriously, but like to toss around.

Gia

Gia’s mom and entire family seem extremely over-protective of her… almost like she needs looking out for.  Or they just care very very much for her.

-

Ali

Ali’s home town seemed awesome.

Jake seemed truly happy to see her and she, him.  I felt an odd vibe when Jake was talking to Ali’s mom, but it might be my paranoia of hoping she wins that’s acting up.

-

Tenley

Tenley needs to STOP bringing up her ex-husband.  ex-speak to men is like crosses and garlic to vampires.  A smart man runs.

She seems to be very attached to demonstrating how she’s moving on, in an almost over-kill mode.

I see where she gets her emotional overflow… her parents are deep-feeling folk.  Everybody cried.

-

Vienna

I am no fan of Vienna, but there’s something that Jake see’s in her that has him keeping her around.  Despite teh warnings from the entire fleet of contestants crying foul!

Vienna grew up on the river and showed him that river.

Oh lordy!  Everyone is cryin’ again.

Yet every time Jake is around Vienna, his words really seem to indicate just how deeply in it he is with her, to the point where he noted how scary it is.

The poor boy has fallen for all 4 girls in different ways.  Then after that, Ali showed up with what looks like bad news.

Ali has to choose between staying in the show or going back to work.  Jake looks pretty intense about this as she explained her situation.

My immediate thoughts are if he were looking to pick her, he’s say blow it, I’ll take care of you!

Jake then said that life is about minimizing your regrets.  Which one is your bigger regret.  He suggested staying and take a chance, but could not tell her that staying meant getting a ring on her finger or not.

Later at the ring ceremony, Jake asked her not to go, because she wasn’t on the line for the rose ceremony.

Yet Ali knew there just isn’t any guarantee after this rose ceremony.   She chose to leave.  (Word on the street that the job she returned to was at Facebook.)

With Ali leaving, there is no Rose Ceremony, so-to-speak.

Oddly, the 3 girls left and Jake were all pretty smiley, despite what just happened.

I’ve seen the rumors of who wins this deal.  If enough people ask, I’ll post it in the comments.  If someone does post it in the comments, please put SPOILER in front of it.  I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else.
