2012-2013 TV Series Renewal/Canceled List for ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, & CW

Brusimm tv newsEveryone is wondering what TV shows have been renewed or canceled?  Lucky for you, the annual network upfronts are on their way and the networks are setting up their lineups for the 2012-2013 TV season.

The upfronts are where the networks sell TV ad time to the ever-important advertisers for a season.  These sales sessions usually net the basic networks around $10 billion (per season), give or take a billion, in support of producing and airing the programming.  (The upfronts are the discounted sales session.  Ads are still sold throughout the year/season.)

So without further adieu, check out what TV shows have been renewed for the upcoming 2012/2013 season and what TV series have been canceled, or in some cases, dropped like a hot rock!

Below is a quick list as I know it now, at “press” time.  I wanted to get it up and going and  I’ll be updating as I find or discover news…

Warning:  If you’ve been by once and are returning, I’ve reformatted the listing!  I decided to sort alphabetically, like I usually do…

PS Georgia: If there’s to be an announcement, I’d expect it to come out later this month or early next month on the show.

Bruce Simmons September 10, 2013 at 12:35 pm

Georgia, the best news I can dig up is that on their Facebook page, a post dated July 8 (the page’s last post to date) has a link pointing to a preview video for “next season.”

But I don’t see anything else, anywhere about when. I’ll try to dig a bit deeper and see if I can get some concrete info on that.

Would like to know if “Alaska, the last Frontier” will be back for another series. I love that show.

Kelly, thank you so much for the thoughtful compliment. Every now and then, I start wondering why I’m doing this, and suddenly, someone reminds me what got me started doing this fun stuff…

If there’s anything you want me to hover on or cover, let me know. I’ve always said this site is about the visitors, let’s make it so!

We love supernatural on C.W. is it returning for fall 2013? Thank you!

Bruce Simmons December 4, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Simon… yes, they are. LOST GIRL and THE WALKING DEAD are returning. This article is focused on the basic networks, not nets like SYFY or AMC! Don’t worry my fearless reader! Your favorites are returning!

simon December 4, 2012 at 6:27 pm

No lostgirl is coming back on and The walking dead.

Bruce Simmons November 27, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Scott: READY FOR LOVE will be premiering on March 31st, 2013. -Bruce

Scott Oliver November 27, 2012 at 6:54 pm

Was wondering about a show called Ready for Love if it was still going to air?

Bruce Simmons November 26, 2012 at 6:45 am

Heather… LOST GIRL’s renewal was announced back in June and per sources then, is due to air in January of 2013 (on Syfy). I presume that if it’s showing on Syfy, it’s due to also be seen on your own local channels. But that’s a shear guess on my part. -Bruce

Wondering about Lost Girl on showcase? Was it cancelled?

Chris Hess October 1, 2012 at 2:45 pm

Everyone I know watched Harry’s Law and loved it. Can’t believe the show was cancelled. We also enjoyed Terra Nova and The Firm.

Shawn Droze September 14, 2012 at 5:25 pm

How come CSI Miami is not being renewed? I love that show. That is the best show on a Sunday night. the only decent show on Sunday night. All the reality shows should be canceled because they are so stupid and non believing.

Rita Kingsburgh September 11, 2012 at 11:56 pm

hehe, reason i stop watching new series nowadays, they will only be cancel anyways. Gotta love Netflix.

anne owens August 19, 2012 at 3:57 pm

Most of us are unaware of the complicated process you big wigs use to keep or get rid of shows or start new ones, but you do not give really good shows long enough like you used to – good shows would have a decent chance to make it-you cancel unforgettable and harry’s law and keep those stupid reality shows-low budget and low brain. I will read a book.

Bruce Simmons August 15, 2012 at 11:04 pm

Unfortunately Vickie, networks respond to advertisers, who respond to ratings and the number of people who tune in. When those numbers drop and adverts don’t think they can make money off their ads, that concern flows downhill to the networks and they in turn, well, you know where it goes from there. Your fellow viewers doomed your favorite shows. (as part of this complex entertainment equation.) -bruce

I am really sorry to see you cancel the finder, unforgetable , and terra nova we really liked those show you need to give them another try.

marie August 13, 2012 at 2:36 pm

I do not like that everytime I like a show you cancel it and put on stupid shows. I wish you would keep Missing, Finder, and etc.

John Habernathy June 18, 2012 at 4:02 pm

There was a time when there were about ten shows that were the top and kept but now it’s what, like 50??? At least half of the shows that are going to stay are shiite and should go. And I notice notice that none of the irritating “reality” shows are mentioned. They should all be scrapped – Every single one of them.

Game of Thrones season 3 to debut April 2013

G May 25, 2012 at 5:58 pm
