On August 11th, 2010, Marc Boland died while riding his Harley motorcycle. Marc was the heart and soul behind the auto racing blog called Full Throttle.
We’ve all shared links with him and I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with him on and off over the last few years. He was always willing to chat with anyone and had a pretty level headed approach to his reflections on issues. He was a one-man show behind his website and it was a pleasure to have known him, though I dind’t know him that well.
Right now, his site sits there, the last entry looks like it was from August 9th… header images eerily rotating on their own, in memory of his work. His last tweet on August 10th. I guess he was taking a day off on the 11th. I’m very sad from knowing this.
The sad and funny part is that I learned of his demise from NASCARista on Twitter. It’s funny, because sometimes I ponder if something were to happen to any of us, who would really notice? Someone, maybe. But who would anyone ask to find out where we went?
His Twitter bio read: “In violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing)“ He was a good guy. NASCAR Bits & Pieces sends thoughts and prayers out to his family and friends.
A few of us wrote things about him:
Pop Off Valve, ErnhrtFanAlways,
R.I.P. Marc. (Full Throttle)
