A WTF Moment: Woman Uses Gun-Shaped Cigarette Lighter in Bank

In my life, I try to use common sense when doing things.  I try not to do 100 mph down a city street.  I try not to wield a 12-inch knife on my belt when walking onto school property, and I definitely don’t use a gun-shaped cigarette lighter in a bank.

I also try not to hang out with friends that do that.

It would seem though that some don’t have the same sense of preventative logic that I do.

On March 11th, a woman walked into a Wells Fargo Bank in Los Altos and while in the process of withdrawing a fair amount of funds from the bank, had placed her cigarette lighter on the window counter.  The only bad thing about that is that the lighter looked like a gun.

The bank clerk hit the alarm button, the woman left, the police arrived, then found her a bit later at a Burger King with some friends.  Police arrested all 3 of this wayward gang, and upon searching our daring withdrawal fiend, found the lighter.

The police gave her a lecture about withdrawing her lighter in the bank, but her profoundly “intelligent” response was “But it’s my only lighter so how else can I light my cigarette?”

It was all a goof from step one, between the teller hitting the alarm and the woman putting the lighter on the counter, but OMG, I still have to put this one on the woman for not having the common sense to not pull out the thing in the first place.

Might I suggest she actually bust out $1 and get a publicly acceptable shaped lighter?  That’s my take, but hey, I could be wrong there!
