About Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights, the TV series, is an adaptation/continuation of the movie by the same name. The 2004 movie starred Billy Bob Thornton, Lucas Black, Garrett Hedlund, Amber Heard and more. The TV series, Friday Night Lights, stars Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Taylor Kitsch, Adrianne Palicki, Jesse Plemons and Zach Gilford.

These cast members were more or less introduced to me via Friday Night Lights as they stood out to me for their gritty portrayals of their characters, at one time or another during the last few seasons of the story as they grew up through high school and moved on to college and their working lives.

Even though the cast mentioned here impacted me, the entire cast stepped up and made the show for me. Some of these folks moved on to larger projects.

  • Kyle Chandler (The Day the Earth Stood Still, upcoming: Super 8)
  • Connie Britton (A Nightmare on Elm Street)
  • Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, upcoming: John Carter of Mars)
  • Adrianne Palicki (Legion, Upcoming: Red Dawn remake)
  • Jesse Plemons (Observe and Report, upcoming Battleship)
  • Zach Gilford (Super, on TV: Off the Map)

But as the last season has come and gone, aside from the cast going on to future parts, the only thing we’ll have will be the memories of the show that we can watch again and again on DVD.

It is a shame the show didn’t hit it off with in the ratings, but so be it. We at least had 5 great seasons of this growing family drama, based around the important aspect of their lives, their football games under the Friday Night Lights.

Lynn, if you signed up for comment notifications, the DVD for the 5th season is coming out April 5th… which is way ahead of the planned NBC airing of summer time. Wow, what a mess? I hope they’re not expecting huge ratings off the NBC broadcast, that’s for sure!

Yes, it is a pre-order. Ah. It probably won’t show up on DVD until after it’s aired on NBC… and I’m not sure when that will be yet… I’ll try to stay on top of this and report the info when I find out.

I did read your post but Amazon does not have the 5th season yet, do you know if there is a dvd of the 5th season anywhere?
