Transformers 3 has been a bit of a mystery as far as any detailed content about the plot. All I know right now is that all the filming that is going on over in Chicago is for the back half of the movie, as the plot nears the end and the big fight between good and evil takes place. Then again, we do have a bit of detail about Alan Tudyk‘s role in the movie that came from what looks like a fresh new online site called From Hollywood With Love as they nabbed themselves an exclusive interview with Alan Tudyk and in that interview Mira chatted with Alan about his roles in Beautiful Boy and Transformers 3.
In Beautiful Boy, Tudyk calls it a quiet drama that goes to harrowing places. (The guys will be jealous here:) Tudyk plays the husband to the character played by Moon Bloodgood. Check out what I’ve written about Alan in Alan Tudyk Movie Update, Beautiful Boy.
Tudyk’s Transformers 3 Role

Up until now, we only knew that Alan Tudyk is in Transformers 3. We never new the details of the role.
In his interview with Mira, he let on that he plays a fellow agent & assistant to agent Simmons that’s been played by John Turturro. His role is that of an all around assistant and by virtue of that requirement, his character is a weapons expert, computer hacker & cyber sleuth.

The picture you have identified as Patrick Dempsey is his stunt double for T3. I think you can find many pictures of PD on that set to post but at least retag the one you have posted..
