An Andy Whitfield Health Update?

I’ve been keeping a close eye on the web for any news what-so-ever on the status of Andy Whitfield‘s battle with his cancer. As most will know, Andy had to bow out of the second season of the most awesome TV series, Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

[Updated 9-11-11: Please see my very sad update on the death of Andy Whitfield.]

I recently caught what looks like a great update from Nick E. Tarabay‘s Facebook page. Nick Tarabay played Ashur in Blood and Sand & the prequel, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.

Per his FB post, he said the following:

To all the fans, I just got great email from Andy( Spartacus ) He’s doing great and looking even better ( As you can see ) and before you know it I’m sure you all gonna see him on TV again. That man is a true warrior. everybody repeat after me, SPARTACUS SPARTACUS SPARTACUS….. LOL

That is such wonderful news to hear. I know everyone is pulling for Andy, as are we here at Brusimm.com. I found this update via the great folks over at Hey, That’s Awesome Bro!.

I’m sure Liam will do fine. But, I’m praying that there just MIGHT be a chance for Andy to be re cast in season 4. If there is one. Not sure how long Spartacus lead the 3rd serval war. Hopefully long enough for a 4th season. PLEASE!

For me Andy was a once in a lifetime character. I have never been prone to silly things like heroes becase I am a bit of a narcosist but andy as Spartacus wow. He nailed it how can the new guy beat a perfect performance?

IMO, he is the reason the show is a success. Gods of the Arena was a joke. It was horrible without his character. Go back and watch season one, and then compare it. I know you will find the same result, as many others have. This is the reason many fans of the show hate the fact he is not in on this next season. Without him, it will suck! The only saving grace will be Manu Bennet, he will have to the carry it until the return of the master. I’m sorry, but he was menat for this role, and it doesn’t matter how good the new guy is.

Not sure why you would hope that Liam does poorly. He’s the title character. If he fails, the show could fail and there wouldn’t be anything for Andy to come back to. For the record, the new guy looks frikkin awesome and I can’t wait to see him in the new season.

Keith, even if he were up to it, sadly the role has already been cast… hate to be the bearer of bad news!
