If you’ve been following this Consumer column under Brusimm.com, you know I’m in the middle of evaluating my new Motorola Droid X from Verizon Wireless.
At the moment I’m in the middle of scribbling up info on my right screen/pages which should be coming up soon on the site. In the meantime, I’m really enjoying my Motorola Droid X and it would seem that I’m not the only one not only enjoying their Droids, but many more are taking note of what their peers and such are saying and like myself, are headed down to their local cell smartphone seller or online outlet and snatching them up.
With that said, on Phone Scholar, Bill Greenberg reports that Consumer Reports has ranked Droid based phones very well amongst the litter. Of the top-10 ranked smart phones, nine of them are Droids. The odd man out is the iPhone 3G, which is 6th on the list of the ten smartphones.
Sales of the Motorola Droid a year ago busted out in one week, selling 250k units. Back then Apple’s iPhone 3GS sold around 1.6 million units.
Things are a bit different today.
In the second quarter of 2010, sales of the Android OS passed up the iPhone & BlackBerry OS based systems. This set the Google OS as the overall third most popular in the world. It’s the No. 1 phone OS in the U.S..
The Droid OS increased it’s market share in 1 year from just under 2% of the market to 17%. Can you hear me now? Oh yea.
Like I said earlier, I’m loving my experiences with the Motorola Droid X and as many people see & hear about it, the momentum of the phone could possibly only increase and Google has made a shrewd & fantastic business move in coming out with this smartphone OS.
Bravo.
