Andy Whitfield promo head shot

Luna, a person from the Andy Whitfield Facebook Fan Page is organizing a worldwide moment of thought/prayer and well wishes of support for Andy Whitfield in his fight against cancer. Andy Whitfield came to renown playing the part of Spartacus in the Starz Entertainment cable series titled Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

Andy was diagnosed with cancer (non-Hodgkins lymphoma) and though he beat it once but it came back. Now Andy is in the fight of his life. First Starz had gone to a plan B, creating a prequel to Blood and Sand called Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.

[Updated 9-12-11: Please see my very sad update on the death of Andy Whitfield.]

Sadly, Andy has to focus on his own fight and Starz is presently recasting the role of Spartacus for the second season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand. The role will be a tough one to fill, considering that Andy truly set the bar for the role and in the process, captured the hearts of millions.

The Andy Whitfield Fan Page on Facebook is calling for a specific time frame for everyone to send their thoughts of support. Hit it up and check out what time Monday you’ll wish to join the world in sending your thoughts Andy Whitfield‘s way.
