Animals Know When Earthquakes Are Coming! [Thoughts]

Some say animals know when earthquakes are coming.  They sense it.  I’ve seen a number of articles on the matter that sway me in that direction.  I mean hey, animals know things we could never hope to grasp an understanding of.

Scientists say there’s no way to predict or detect an incoming earthquake.  But heck, scientists don’t know everything… almost everything, but not everything.  And they will learn more than they know now.  It’s inevitable.  But depending on animals as your warning bell is not an exact science.

Though in 1975, based on observations by of animals, the Chinese evacuated Haicheng just in time for a 7.3 quake.  They say it saved countless lives by doing so.

As far as detectability, well, I know for a fact you can hear an earthquake right before it hits.  But it’s such a short duration of time between hearing it, realizing what you’re hearing, and then BAM!, too late!  The sound it gives off is like someone sending a test tone of a bass note.  Super low, almost, well, sounds like a low-toned vibration sound.  Usually we’re not in the right circumstances to take advantage.

I couldn’t tell you how, but after the Northridge quake in CA, I got out of the building 30 minutes before any major aftershock.  I worked on the 6th floor and I just did not want to go through that.  In one of those evacuations, I called my bud and said we need to go to lunch.  He replied, but it’s 10 a.m. Bruce!  I said “Don’t care.  You coming?”  Having seen my predictability accuracy for those few weeks, we went out to lunch and sure enough, BAM!, a nice 5+ point aftershock.

Like I said, I don’t know. It just is.  I was ‘Zen” with my world for those few days.

Then there’s this dog in the video below.  I think he heard the same sound I was describing earlier.  He looks like he hears an ex-wife coming!  You’ll see!  It’s actually a pretty intense video for a few seconds.  Check it out:

Another angle… dog still pretty fast… not sure where he’s going.  Then again, he doesn’t either!

In this vid, watch the cars dance!  It reminds me of the Whittier quake from So. Cal.  I was driving to work and my truck started swaying violently back and forth.

Here’s proof that earthquakes are bad for business!  Watch the door carefully around the 15 second mark as the woman pushing a cart makes her way out!  LOL.  I’m sure it’s not what it looks like, but its a funny thought, for sure.
