There’s nothing like getting home from a hard day at work and relaxing to a stand up comedy DVD. No smoke in the air, no annoying guy sitting next to you heckling the performer, no paying 15 dollars for a beer. Nope and that’s the beauty of a stand up comedy DVD. Let’s face it, for the same price as a DVD you could purchase what two drinks at a live performance? In today’s economy, that’s not funny.
That being said, let me recommend Artie Lange’s, latest stand up performance DVD, Artie Lange: Jack and Coke.
Some of you obviously know Artie from The Howard Stern Show where he’s been hanging out for the last 8+ years, writing jokes and making us all laugh during the toughest time of the day. Artie’s had some rough times of late, but I’m not here to dwell on that.

Jack and Coke chronicles the past few years of Mr. Lange’s stand up career as he brings out his best material over the span of a full 85-minute performance. Filmed early in 2009 at the Gotham Night Club in New York, Jack and Coke encompasses the good times and the bad times of Artie’s life. He openly discusses his drug problems, his views on whores, his views on relatives, his views on the war. He talks about working with Howard and how he’s cleaned himself up with the help of some close friends. All in all its a very personal, hardcore, and hilariously funny experience that I highly encourage those that are fans to pick it up.
The DVD features some great bonus material as well. There’s a feature called, “Arties Fans” that pays tribute to all the folks that attended the show.
There’s some, “Behind the scenes” footage of Artie and the two comics that opened for him, Pete Dominick and Joe Matarese. Also extra footage showing Artie dealing with few heckler’s and a music video by ReSurch.
One feature that I really appreciated were the complete warm up performances by Pete Dominick and Joe Matarese. I recommend watching their performances before you watch Artie’s set. This way you retain the evenings set continuity and take in the entire 2 hour performance.
They say that laughter is a great for your health. I highly recommend at least one stand up comedy viewing per week to stay fit and stress free. (Well almost stress free).
If you think Dane Cook is lame, and there’s no kids around, Artie Lange: Jack and Coke is for you!
