‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ Update From Syfy

Ever since Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome was announced some time back, it was first going to be a web series, which then became a TV pilot and possible series, and then it was unknown… due to several cost factors.

Back in September, it was again back to probably being a web series

Now, finally, it seems, through some almost non-news, that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will premiere as a 90-minute TV pilot movie, but then, it will become a “groundbreaking digital series.”

I call it non-news because I’m noticing some interesting catch-phrases that worry me.  It seems like there’s a lot of ‘want to’ but no ‘it is happening’ notes.  Check it out:

Though the vision for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned. We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date.

I’m keying in on

  • “vision,” making me think they’re still envisioning a series;
  • “enthusiasm,” making me think they want to, but doesn’t say they ARE working on it;
  • “actively pursuing,” see “enthusiasm;

I’d love to see this idea come into reality some day… but dang, when?  I presume the 90-minute mention includes ads, but if they have 90 minutes of content, what with every 30 minutes of TV time having only around 20-22 minutes of show, that’s four quick half-hour pilot episodes that could lead into their web series!

That’s just me thinking out loud though.  No one has said that is happening.

At the link, there’s some there’s some more Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome concept art.  That’s it for now… more to come, when it shows up!

Hmm, spoon,

Yea… it sounds like they’re stringing BSG fans along… they should just do a comic book and get over it…. Hey… wait a minute… did I just have an idea?

How can it cost so much less to do a web series than a TV series?
Is it just the way it is displayed?

I mean you still have to pay the actors, you still have digital stuff going on to make it look real, you still need editors.

I really want to see this, but I just get the feeling it is not going to happen.
