If you caught last weekend’s Daytona Nationwide race, you caught the wreck that Dale Earnhardt Jr. was involved in. When Brendan Gaughan get out of the infield care center, during his energetic interview, he delivered the most pragmatic statement I think I’ve heard come out of a driver in one of the infamous after-wreck press interviews:

But that’s not a surprising but frank statement coming from Brendan. He’s very … outspoken is the correct work, but he’s very energetic with his conversation mode. Yea, that’s it. Energetic.
The week leading up to the race, I caught Brendan Gaughan on SIRIUS Ch 128, their NASCAR channel. As always, he was a hoot to listen to.
For one, he was thrilled that the field was set by points because that put Danica Patrick in the row next to him. As far as he’s concerned, all cameras will be on her car, and with him next to her, that would mean his sponsor, his dad’s company, would get on camera. LOL.
To further express his desire to get his sponsor on camera, he referenced a previous race (I did not catch who or what race) where under caution he was lightly rear-ending the car in front of him, knowing that the media was focused on that driver, he figured they’d have to pan the cameras on his car, wondering what the heck he was up to!!!
Here’s something from last season: I bet you didn’t know that he was like some secret assistant with the arrangements that were made for Ray Evernham to marry Erin. If you remember, we had no warning and suddenly, BAM!, Ray’s married. Yea… Brendan may be a chatty guy, but he’s proven he can keep a secret!
