Can Michael Rosenbaum Return to Smallville?

With the announcement of some Smallville vets returning to the show this season, the inevitable question remains in our heads, and that’s since we’ve seen so many cool things this season and the return of other cast and characters, can’t we get more Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville as Lex Luthor?

Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) on Smallville

If you look around the web, the fans really want him back.  Last time we heard, Michael was moving on and the showrunners wrote him out accordingly.

It was either that or we keep seeing stand-in’s with bald caps and that wasn’t working and they knew it.

But being Lex Luthor (DVD season junkies: SPOILER ALERT), getting blown up just doesn’t end Lex Luthor.  Come on!  We know that.  So it’s OK to bring him back.  Right gang?

But can Michael Rosenbaum actually return to Smallville?  OR is he working?

I thought I’d look that up.

Michael has done a ton of voice work in animated projects.  Before Smallville he voiced  Wally West (The Flash) in the animated TV Series Justice League, and Kid Flash in Teen Titans.

Since Smallville, He did a TV series short called PG Porn and voiced the character of Deadman in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Rumors are that he played the character of Turk in Wing Man.  If the rumor is true, Wing Man is about the wing man that takes it for the team and hits up the annoying friend of the hot chick while your buddy gets the hot goods.  But news on this was from October of ’09.  I aint’ holding my breath yet.

More concrete news is that he spent time in New Orleans filming Father of Invention.

He played Eddie and starred along with Heather Graham, Kevin Spacey, Camilla Belle and Virginia Madsen.  Oh my, Johnny Knoxville is in this.  And yep, it’s a comedy.

The movie is about a fellow who loses it when his inventions maims thousands of customers.  Ouch… and potential.

But with that being in post-production, I’m not sure Michael is busy.  Ahem… CW…  not busy.  Hmm.

Just saying.  That’s all.

Gang, now you know!

I am surprised Smallville has done so well considering we hardly ever hear anything about Tom Welling. His Garbo desire to be left alone is amazing in a young actor. He never publicises the programme or appears on Talk Shows etc. Both Welling and Rosenbaum had a wonderful relationship on Smallville and I was so disappointed when Michael decided to leave the show. It would be wonderful if he came back for the final season, or is it the final season as I have read that Smallville has become more popular and may be picked up for yet another season? I watch DVDs of Smallville here in Bonn, and I am up to Series 8!! So I have a way to go yet before I catch up with the rest of you.
