Caprica, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica
If you haven’t already seen the pilot episode of Caprica, you can check out my Review of Caprica or just wait until it airs on January 22nd, 2010. I do believe it will fill the void very nicely when Battlestar Galactica drew its final curtain.
Now as far as the season goes, Syfy will show the premiere and 8 more hours of Caprica through March.
They will then take one of those fracking wonderful mid-season breaks and return “in the 2nd half of 2010.”
I sure would love a more concrete return date, but Syfy has been doing this a lot lately and I don’t know why. But it annoys me! (I’ll have to get over it.)
Caprica, originally slated for 20 hours of episodes, will only be showing 19 instead. Syfy cut their order of the show by 1 hour.
It seems it was more costly to film on locations for Caprica than it was when they built soundstages for Battlestar Galactica… so they kind of blew their budget a bit with the travel!
Caprica is the prequel to Battlestar Galactica. How the society came about creating them and how the first Cylon came into being.
Though I don’t normally push Cinema Static on SoB readers to other sites. Yet I would be remiss to not point you to some excellent reading on the issue. There’s a bit more info on some history of the production of Caprica and their growing pains, I’m thinking you should go check out additional details over at Chicago Tribune.
