Though I rally against most of the reality TV programming out there, I have to speak towards one of Syfy channel’s unscripted series, called Face Off.

Face Off is a reality competition for special-effects make-up artists who compete in various challenges against each other, testing their skills, in both detail, quality and expediently created products.
The contestants go through challenges that are not just for show, but give the viewers an incredible insight towards what goes into the details of creating the monsters and fairies of fantasy that grace our movie and TV screens. Like it’s been said, the devil is in the details. And sometimes, we even get to see the devil.
And many of their creations are amazing to behold when all is said and done.
And the judging of the challenges comes from talented artists at the top of their game today.

This is a movie review of Chronicle.

Chronicle stars Dane DeHaan (True Blood, In Treatment), Alex Russell & Michael B. Jordan (Red Tails, Parenthood, Friday Night Lights) and is directed by Josh Trank.
I was worried about coming into Chronicle because of what looked like limited experience of the director, Josh Trank. His resume on IMDb shows his only directorial experience is the 2007 TV series, The Kill Point and after that, he fulfilled roles such as photo researcher, sound editor, and second unit director in projects prior to Chronicle.
No fear… Trank took this puppy and ran with it very well.
The film summary on IMDb reads:
“Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.”

Today I looked into what happens to the shirts and hats for the losing team of the Super Bowl. Check out what I found out…
In this day and age, nothing is sacred. The internet makes sure of that. But still, there seem to be some things that defy the ineptitude of trust and greediness of shallow souls that astounds even myself.
Today I sit and ponder, that no matter what precautions are taken, things get out in the “wild” of the internet and the world. Trusted studio personnel sit in the glow of the glamor of releasing a movie script or movie itself, disregarding the trust put in them by their bosses. Folks sneak into movie theaters to make bootleg tapes and then brag about it while posting them on YouTube. Folks somehow manage to think that it’s perfectly O.K. to watch a stolen movie online.
Whatever.
What astounds me is that through the years, I have never once ever encountered the T-shirts, hats or other product of the Super Bowl’s losing team.
Now maybe I’ve just missed the event or don’t remember. (You know what they say the first thing to go is!) But seriously, I have pondered just how they keep the losing teams goods from ever getting out in the wild? I was imagining giant, hungry Mastiffs sitting in front of the merchandise in some vault at the Super Bowl. Or wonder just how ironclad or dangerously threatening the non-disclosure agreements are for staff and what not.
It boggles the mind to think about this, but after a tiny bit of research, I found an answer that dampened the imagination of vaults, dogs, incinerators and walls of lawyers staring at the employees of Super Bowl T-shirt manufacturers.

Lately, I’ve been veering away from TV news on upcoming projects. I just don’t have the kind of time that one man needs to cover a lot of it… but this one, I could not resist.
NBC has ordered a dramatic thriller from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke called Revolution.
As far as I’m concerned, these two combining to put something together goes beyond thrilling for this kid! If you’ve seen the CW’s series, Supernatural, starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, then you know what I’m talking about. It’s a great show.
Revolution takes place in a world where all forms of energy have disappeared and we follow some characters who are struggling to survive this situation and attempting to reunite with loved ones.
Bryan Burk (Fringe) will be executive producer.
I already can’t wait to see future TV news about this project and who they’ll start casting for roles.
(Sorry… I’m all fan-boying about this one!)

The Hunger Games Contest News

Hey, if you couldn’t find all the websites that are participating in the contest to attend the movie premiere of The Hunger Games, I found a website that pulled all the sites together for you.

Winning the contest can see you being a part of the fun and seeing the movie with the cast. The Sweepstakes is open from Thursday, February 2nd, 10AM PST – February 21st, 11:59PM PST.

So this last week, we saw previews for next week’s episode of ABC’s The Bachelor, and in those previews we saw some tragic event that is going to take place. But what, oh what could it be???
I caught a piece of news on the web about next week’s episode of The Bachelor about this little new drama/escapade…
Turns out the Casey S. has a boyfriend and Chris Harrison has a chat with her. That’s the preview scene we see… or part of it.
The press release next week says:
“On rose ceremony day, Chris pays a surprise visit to the women, pulling Casey S. from the group. In another of ‘The Bachelor’s’ most dramatic moments, he confronts her about a situation she has kept secret from everyone. A shocked Casey S. then must admit the truth to Ben. How will he take the news?”
Crazy, huh? Or, it’s just nothing new from what seems to be the usual, seasonal set of staged “dramatic” events we get every season. But hey, it will be the most exciting rose ceremony to date, right?

I know you were curious, right? Well, for all 15 or 20 of you that might be interested, (I know you care!) the other weekend when Syfy channel aired “The Syfy Saturday Original Movie” Swamp Volcano, starring Rachel Hunter and Brad Dourif, pulled in just over the usual average number of viewers for a Saturday night original movie on Syfy…
Syfy averages around 2 million viewers on their Saturday night movie programming and Swamp Volcano pulled in just over that, with 2.17 million total viewers on its premiere night. That’s right, if you watched, you were part of a 2 million person party. 724k adults, ages 25-54 were part of that demographic.

In Swamp Volcano, oil rig drillers in the Gulf of Mexico accidentally hit an underground lava flow, causing a massive volcano to form in Miami. A volcanologist and her sister attempt to blow the whistle on an illegal oil drilling scheme before it sets off the eruption that will destroy civilization. Swamp Volcano was a production of Bullet Films.
