So you’ve heard it, right? The Citibank Ad with the girl rock climbing, and there’s that cool set of song lyrics kicking it in, in the background? And the lyrics go something like this: “Somebody left the gate open.”
(This scene was shot with camera attached to climber's hat)
The ad features rock climber Katie Brown, and is filmed on the Ancient Arts rock formation outside of Moab, Utah. (She says it’s not that hard of a climb!). I think she’s totally awesome.
But what has viewers imaginations is the song in the background as Katie achieves that lofty looking goal of the top of Ancient Arts structure.
It’s called “Into the Wild” and as a whole, the song isn’t bad. (Sometimes you hear a piece of a song that sounds cool, but then you find out the rest of it isn’t all that great.)
For more info on who sings it, where you can get that song and such, go check out Cinema Static’s new home, on the piece about the Citibank Rock Climbing ad! There, I have collected a few videos and found out where you can get (for a limited time) the song for free.

A couple of days ago Syfy announced that in top of renewing Being Human for a third season, they’re also renewing the special effects competition series, Face Off, for a third season also.

Again, TV ratings spoke oodles. The second season premiere of Face Off pulled in 2.5 million viewers, translating to 1.52M adults 18-49 and 1.31M adults 25-54. The first two episodes of the season pulled in the most viewers ever, during the run of this TV series.
To be honest, it is an amazing series to watch and you can learn a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of movies where your favorite monsters roam the Earth, looking for tender viddles of human morsels to devour!
This latest episode I watched, the artists transformed their models into animal plants… this wasn’t their best episode for results, and a few were things that looked like even I could have pulled them off. (Well, probably not, but from my couch, hey, anything seems possible.)

That was quick! It’s been announced today that the Syfy network, an offshoot of Comcast owned NBC, has put in a renewal order for Being Human, the supernatural drama starring Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington as vampire Aidan, ghost Sally and werewolf Josh who share the creature comforts of home in a Boston brownstone.
The new season will also be a 13-episode season, like this present second season is.
These three unique roommates struggle in their day-to-day lives to keep their supernatural secrets and resist individual temptations as they strive to live lives that are as near to normal as possible.
The order comes on the heals of a large TV ratings increase after only 4 episodes of the second season of the show.
“To date, viewership for the second season has increased by an impressive +27% in Adults 18-49, +35% in Adults 25-54 and +15% in total viewers.”

This is the season of Hollywood awards shows. Some folks love the award shows and others seem to have tenuous, strained relationships with their televisions while the awards shows are on because sometimes, that’s all that’s on. No one wants to really compete with some of the various awards shows.
Que the Syfy channel to the rescue! Yes, I just said that because Syfy has scheduled some theatrical movie marathons for the award days.
If you’re dreading Sunday, February 12th, the Syfy Grammy programming schedule wil start at 10 AM and run through to 5:30 AM the following morning. This TV movie marathon will feature End of Days, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
If the Oscars aren’t your thing, Syfy will start it’s theatrical movie marathon at 10:30 AM and run through to 5 AM the next morning. Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse will be featured, starting at 7 PM.

House M.D. TV News:

Today Fox announced that the present season of House, in its eighth season, will be its last season.
Fox issued a joint statement with House executive producers David Shore, Katie Jacobs and Hugh Laurie, that House has been canceled, as in, it won’t be renewed.
“After much deliberation, the producers of House M.D. have decided that this season of the show, the eighth, should be the last. By April this year they will have completed 177 episodes, which is about 175 more than anyone expected back in 2004.”
Some fans will be saying thank god, while others will be sad to see this.

The Voice is back for a second season. It’s the show where the judges only listen to singers without seeing them. It removes the eye-candy factor. And the judges are pretty awesome: Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. Last year one of the parts of the show I liked was how the coaches got up on stage and showed us WHY they’re where they’re at, on the show.
The other thing I like about The Voice is how even when the contestants aren’t picked, they’re humble and appreciative, unlike another unmentioned series where some of the participants get a wee bit snippy… to say the least.
The first thing I missed was the judges putting on a performance like they did last year… I had found that fascinating and made it stand out from American Idol. But not to worry… it’s just the post-Super Bowl episode. On the bright side, the friendly coach janter is still there, maybe a bit more than last year now that The Voice is an established hit. Adam Levine is bantering with MORE of the, “I won last year” banter.
Let’s see how the first two nights went for the singing competition:
Jesse Campbell had three votes within the first few notes… Blake followed later. It was on him who to pick for a coach. He chose Christina because he said she was the first person to come to mind. How could she not… she’s “busting out” of her dress.
Juliet Sims came out with a raspy, rocker girl sound. She almost sounded like a Joan Jett. Cee Lo and Adam nailed their buttons first. Then Christina. After all the sales pitches from the coaches, Juliet picked Cee Lo. I thought Adam would have been a good fit for her, but hey!

This week on Courtney’s show, The Bachelor on ABC, they’re in Panama City… and this is THE night that someone gets caught in her own scandal.
Round One:
The first date, Ben takes Casey B to their own tiny island. They’re all alone as the chopper leaves… well, as alone as two pelople can be, with a film crew shadowing their every move. They’re cutting down lime-green coconuts… dudes, those aren’t even ripe. It’s like Survivor on The Bachelor. Later they seem to have awkward dinner conversation. (He looks so bored on this date.) She fesses to her teenage eating disorder. She gets the rose.

Round two!
The group date! Everyone shows up in their shorty shorts and fat-lip (Courtney) says she’s over the group dating thing. They toured the raind forest by boat. It’s rainging on them, and that’s an important note. Then they happen upon a village where ABC gets to show us many more bras and bikini tops.
Courtney needs to play her only card, and that’s going top-sort-of-less, underneath and Ben shows his true calling and says he appreciated her going topless, in more than one way.
During the evening, while Ben is talking to Jamie, Courtney is prancing around behind Jamie in her bikini, scoring eye-candy points with the highly distracted Ben. Emily stepped up and apologized to Courtney for bashing her earlier. Then Courtney goes on and says she doesn’t forgive and forget and they’ll never be friends. Class act fat-lip!!!
Ben gives the rose (Round two goes) to Lindzi.
But then Courtney said she tossed an invite out to Ben to come visit her in her room later. Ben never showed up because, well, it’s not a show about her, its his show girl.
