Catwoman with Halle Berry… What Were They Thinking?

When you see a cast that includes Halle Berry, Benjamin Bratt, Sharon Stone, Lambert Wilson, Alex Borstein and Christopher Heyerdahl you’d think this has to be some sort of cool movie.

Halle Berry in Catwoman

2004’s Catwoman was directed by Pitof (Vidocq) with a screenplay written by the team of John D. Brancato (Terminator Salvation), Michael Ferris (Terminator Salvation) and John Rogers (Transformers, on TV: Leverage) you’d think to yourself, “What could go wrong?”

My only guess would be the interpretive direction, that’s what. And for the rare moment in time, I actually agree with the Rotten Tomatoes score of 10%.  I usually don’t.

They dropped $100M making the movie and it’s grossed $71M worldwide.  Which surprises me it made that much!

I’ve been avoiding this movie up until now because of what I’ve heard from peers….  When I saw Catwoman [disclaimer:  I saw it when it came on Syfy Channel.] it was like a train wreck.  Choppy camera work, weird posturing by cast in the majority of scenes and weird, elastic CGI in the action moments were absolutely amazing.  As in amazing it made it to the theaters!!!

The best part about this movie, were a few scenes in which Halle Berry made some of those nice, stationary poses in her Catwoman outfit.

Other than that, I’d suggest if you see it on your TV menu, run!  It hurts the brain cells like a train wreck that you can’t look away from!
