Cinema Static Asks: Is Emilie Ullerup -Ashley- Leaving Sanctuary?

Emilie Ullerup

Emilie Ullerup plays Ashley Magnus on Sanctuary. As anyone who has watched the first few episodes of the 2nd season of Sanctuary, we may be wondering if she’s leaving the show? And coincidentally, I’ve been asked about it, so I thought I’d touch on the issue since it’s a good question.

One that I can’t find any concrete information on.

Yet Cinema Static does know a few things.

She’s got credit for 26 episodes on Sanctuary on IMDB. IMDB isn’t perfectly accurate, but there’s that.. Each season is 13 episodes… so you do the math on that one.

On the other hand, she will be appearing on next weeks episode (Oct 30th) of Smallville, playing Catherine “Cat” Grant.

She’s also going to show up in the project Paradox, with Kevin Sorbo, Christopher Judge & Steph Song.

Paradox is about a world where magic is the driving force behind their technology, not science itself.

A Cinema Static side note / observation: In 2008, next to Sanctuary, she was also in a show called jPod for 13 episodes. So she does work in other shows.

So Emilie Ullerup is a busy girl, and that’s good! Personally, I’d like to see how much more depth she has. I am not that smitten with Ashley… she feels to one, possibly 2 dimensional for me.

I’m not saying it’s her.

Characters are a conglomerate of writers, directors, actors and the rest of the cast. At least that’s what I say about each new actor I watch until I see how they either break out or pan the same ‘self’ in other shows they’re on.

UPDATE 10/31/09: A Cinema Static FYI: Check out my insightful article based on an interview with Emilie Ullerup she was gracious enough to participate in on another website on Oct 29th. (The poor website went down from bandwidth issues, so be patient when you click the source link in my other article.)

Never mind that picture dose happen in 3. Drat it all.

brusimm October 27, 2009 at 9:19 pm

I think that’s a scene from one of the episodes she’s already been in this season, when her mom hallucinates that she’s handing her a laptop with an update on something or other.

Nice background music on that fan made vid.

Yes she is there a youtube link Sanctuary Season 2 Pictures 1 minute 7 seconds in.
And you see a picture of her hair down in a new style in the Vampire dress that has not been on the show yet.In that out fit her hair was always in a pony tail in the first 3 episodes now its long and down. The out fit different to but clearly based on the other Vampire one.

you got me thinking and I started looking around and sure enough she seems oddly absent in what I could dig up.

well, ashley is not on the season promo pics. so i think, she’s really dead. let’s hope she’ll be back in the third season 🙂
anyway, imho sanctuary is the best scifi show in this autumn. sgu is terrible.

I thought Ashley was integral to the show along with her father and the rest of the cast of characters. But she took a vital role, it would be a terrible shame if she were not re-instated to her character. These characters that form a program; leaving is a blow to the program original ideas and meaning. I hope Amanda Tapping realizes that and brings her back, I don’t care for the replacement girl at all, she’s far too ridiculous and cannot compare to the beauty and intelligence of Ashley. Please don’t make the mistake that so many programs make and let this go. I beg of you.

I felt the Ashley character was rather flat and 1 dimensional in season 1 of SANCTUARY… they tried to make the tough girl just too tough or something.

She didn’t resonate with me, but as soon as they started showing the mother / daughter chemistry, things started to change… for me.

I watch the show for Amanda so whether or not Ashley is really gone won’t make me change the channel or delete it off my DVR. I thought the character of Ashley was evolving. I didn’t really care for her in the webisodes but she grew on me over last season. I think the telling part of whether she is leaving is that she was done little to no publicity for the show. Time will tell if she is truly gone for good.

I really hope ashley isn’t gone from the show because i will not watch it if she is gone and replaced by the black hearted bounty hunter that showed up

I hear ya John!

Want to hear a surprise stat? That Ghost Hunters show has one heck of a following. In the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con, the line for the panel went out the door (at the back of the convention center), down and around the building and ended at the front of the convention center!

I was one shocked reporter!

I’ve met Tapping and she was super super cool so I don’t mind supporting the show because of her and Emilie.

I CAN’T really imagine the show going on without Emilie, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

If she in fact, she will no longer be with the show then the show is worthless to me. The ONLY reason I watch it is to see Emilie. As sad as that sounds, it is the truth. I think they will loose a lot of viewers. It’s a shame too because Amanda Tapping put her heart into it. She even appeared on that crap “GHOST HUNTERS” show to promote it. Now thats loyal.
