‘CSI: Miami’ Canceled by CBS, Fans Lose Their Favored Show to New York

CBS made the call and canceled CSI: Miami.

David Caruso in 'CSI: Miami'

David Caruso

After 10 great seasons of following “H” or Lieutenant Horatio Caine played by David Caruso, Calleigh (Emily Procter), Delko (Adam Rodriguez), Tripp (Rex Linn), Wolfe (Jonathan Togo), the gorgeous Natalia (Eva La Rue) and the rest of the supporting cast, CBS pulled the plug on the CSI: Miami.

It came down to costs and CSI: Miami apparently cost more than CSI: NY and they canceled Miami and kept NY. Boo from this fan. But as they said a few weeks back in a bit of a contract twister, they said if Caruso were to give up some of his wage, the show could stay.

Not sure what really happened, but the end result was the show getting canceled. And before you get mad at CBS, keep in mind, if enough viewers were to have kept tuning in, we wouldn’t be here right now. (I don’t like saying that, but that’s the reality of the business of TV We take are chances falling in love with a show and that’s life, as TV fans.)

Adam Rodriguez in canceled

Adam Rodriguez

It was ten great years/seasons of this CSI spinoff as we slowly learned about each character through the years. In the final episode, as it ended, we saw that the showrunners were preparing for the worse, and at the end of the day, the gang all met at happy hour, including Horatio. That in and of itself sort of prepared the fan, no cliff-hanger, just the end of the day and everyone pretty much hanging out, closing out the day, the season and as we have now discovered, the series.

So the 19th episode of season 10, titled “Habeas Corpse,” turned out to be the series finale. I wonder if more people would have tuned in knowing that?

Rex Linn and Emily Procter in 'CSI: Miami'

Rex Linn and Emily Procter

(Tell me you can’t hear Tripp thinking, “What dumb ass excuse is coming out of this suspects mouth now?“)

As it is, I enjoyed watching Eva La Rue and I absolutely loved Rex Linn’s character of Frank Tripp. We need to get him his own show. A no frills cop show where he takes down the “dumb asses!”

Thanks to Ann Donahue, Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony E. Zuiker and more for creating the show. Thanks to CBS for airing the show and thanks to YOU, the fans, where enough of you (us) tuned in week to week to make this show attractive to advertisers for ten years. Alas, not enough folks tuned in over the last year or so, and hence, it’s farewell to CSI, Miami Dade Police Department.

Where Can You Catch The Cast Next?

Digging around on IMDb, I found the following (as of 5-13-12):

You can catch Adam Rodriguez in the upcoming silver screen movie titled Magic Mike coming out on June 29th, 2012.

Rex Linn can be seen in the upcoming Django Unchained (Opening in theaters 12/25/12) & Atlas Shrugged: Part 2 – Either-Or (?). (Did anyone catch him in the web series extras from 2011 for The Walking Dead?)

Jonathan Togo: Somebody Up There Likes Me, which came out in the film festival circuit in March.

Boti Bliss in Gabe the Cupid Dog (?)

Omar Benson Miller in The Love Section (?)

Sofia Milos possibly in The Dead Cage (It’s in the script stage, so don’t hold thy breath yet!)

Rory Cochrane in Argo (10-12-12)

Brendan Fehr in Re-Entry (May, 2012), 13 Eerie (?), Roswell FM (?) & Silent Night (started filming in May 2012… looks like it might be a Syfy movie… a killer Santa is picking off people on Christmas Eve!)

Christopher Redman in the upcoming movie, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

That’s that gang. No more new eps of CSI: Miami. That’s all I have for ya right now…. If you want to share this piece with like-minded fans, hit up those social buttons at the top of the article. Thanks!

What a shame. CBS should take off one of the dumber shows they have on. Bring back my CSI MIAMI.

I just found out that CSI Miami was gone off air. I have been looking to see when it was coming on so looked it up and low and behold I found it was cancelled. Once again CBS takes a good show off the air and leaves one of their stupid idiot comedies on. I don’t know who sits in their office and does this crap but their pretty stupid. I didn’t sit and watch it when it came on but I made sure I recorded it on DVR and I really miss it. CBS you disappoint me once again.

CSI Miami was the only CSI show I watched. And I watched every episode. The other CSI’s Suck. Sorry, but I’m honest. My whole family feels the same way. I don’t believe for a minute that not enough fans watched. CBS is really going down hill as far as I’m concerned. I rarely watch anything on CBS. This is just one more reason. Thanks CBS ,your working your way out of our TV guide on a permanent basis.

CBS, are you nuts??? This was a great show, what were you thinking? Why not cancel CSI NY, which sucks, and use the money you save there to keep CSI Miami on. For that matter, cancel that waste of a show, Two and a Half Men, this show isn’t funny at all, in fact, I find it insulting to people of average or better intelligence. The cast stinks, and the kid, who is way too old now to even have the role of the kid in the first place is a rude, disgusting ill mannered pig. Yes, a show I want on my TV. CBS, where are your brains????? If there was ever a show that ran its course and was due to be canceled it is Tow and a Half Morons, sorry men, and I use that term loosely.

I cannot believe that CBS would this show.It was a great show compared to many other shows. It was much better then its sister show CSI.At least we had the same people in the show most of the time.In CSI they people have been changing every year or two.At that point you have to start to know them all over again.Since their people did not change you did not have to get to know them all over at the beginning of each season. The story lines in this show were well thought out completely.Hopefully there is someway of bring the show back on the air it can happen. This was a big lose

I have followed the entire “CSI” series religiously. However! I lost interest interest in the original because the primary stars started leaving the show. Still like “New York”. Love “Miami”. Caruso and Linn were outstanding in their roles. The entire female supporting cast was both beautiful and professional. Will truly miss this show. How about the producers pitching the show to another network (not on cable or satellite) so that we “Miami” fans can continue to enjoy our show.

I cannot believe CBS cancelled this show. I think they need to rethink this and put some more life back into the show. The cast was great and there were not a lot of violence in the show. Dog down with the people that did not want to make the show better.

Again as usual CBS continues to really disappoint me in their decision making. We just can’t believe that you are cancelling a great show!!! We watched it every week without fail. However CBS is known to cancel great shows. So why bring in new shows for us to fall in love with to just be cancelled? CBS you are starting to lose my business which we know you really don’t care. If you did you would stop all the dumb reality shows and keep the shows that we can sink our heads in and not get the urge to turn the station (which we do a lot).

Helen May 14, 2012 at 2:48 pm

I can’t believe that the idiots at CBS cancelled yet another good show. CBS, you made a huge mistake. Yet you renew one of the (now) most reviled shows to ever hit the airwaves (with ASShton Kutcher) in Two and a Half Morons (er, Men). How is that even possible. CBS should see what hundreds (probably even thousands) of fans think of their moronic decision to axe CSI Miami on Yahoo.com because they really have something to say. Unfortunately, the people making the decisions don’t seem to care what the people really want. All that they’re interested in is unfunny comedies and “oh so unreal” Reality Shows, which the majority of people really, really Hate.

Paul forcey May 14, 2012 at 8:32 am

After watching Horatio take his sunglasses off and turn his best side to the camera for the millionth time we stopped watching.

There are only so many csi/cop shows we can watch in any one week and they all kind of mould into one.

Quite liked NYC22 (think thats the name) and love Blue Bloods.. Sorry for fans of csi:miami but 10 years is a good go these days.
