NASCAR News: Danica Patrick coming to NASCAR!
Dave Moody on Sirius XM is chatting up the story that Danica Patrick is indeed coming to NASCAR, starting her career in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, with sporadic Cup Series starts.
Scene Daily is also confirming that Ms. Patrick is indeed finalizing her contract with JR Motorsports Nationwide team and Stewart-Haas Racing for her Cup starts. Whoa! Look out Ryan!!!
It looks like Danica is walking from her IndyCar ride at the end of 2011 and coming to the other side of the fence where cars can actually touch each other during a race and not lose a wheel doing it!

In the short term, this will be great exposure for the Nationwide Series. It will bring new, fresh blood that has a huge popularity factor to it.
It’s different because unlike a Cup driver who runs some NNS races, if you miss them there, you can still catch them on Sunday. But with Danica Patrick, you can’t miss her and catch her on Sunday. At least not next year.
Plus this brings more life back into the Junior Nation ranks, having her join his team. Heck, maybe she can help him out with his Cup struggles!!! dOh!
So Danica Patrick coming to the NASCAR Nationwide Series is a good thing for the sport and I will eat crow now. (When she started part-timing here in NASCAR a few years back, I didn’t think it was a serious endeavor and I might have been a little heavy handed in saying it. I now digress!)

Danica is certainly a breath of fresh air to the Nascar scene. Her very presence will captivate her audience and add some new excitement to an already exhilarating sport. I think her fan base and new supporters will surprise us all, as I predict attendance at the races will increase dramatically and help out an ailing economy and motorsports in general. Much like Seabiscuit did for our nation many years ago. Go Danica…Turn her loose!
