In the advertising deal of the century, the two most celebrated race drivers in marketing history will be under one roof, so to speak.
Well, one roof on a limited schedule.
Danica Patrick signed on with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports to drive a limited (LIMITED) schedule in the NASCAR Nationwide Series starting in 2010. LOL. (Dale Jr. is not the sole owner of JRM.)
But as is par for Danica, they don’t know what races she’s running yet, which will be her first race or anything else I’m guessing. So the announcement will come Tuesday, but it will be a short one!
BUT, she will be entered into the February 7th ARCA race at Daytona and will be testing in an ARCA car December 18th to 20th at Daytona.
A limited schedule. Which to me, means limited learning, limited experience, limited respect, etc., etc..
I would have loved to have seen her come to NASCAR full time. But she played her cards and got her Andretti Motorsport deal resigned up for 2010. Good for her.
And now it’s no longer speculation or guessing or rumor. Though her camp has no details, it’s finally out there.
I’d like to see a female driver step up and make a name for herself in NASCAR. I’ve yet to see anyone get a decent enough ride to do that.
Time will tell, that’s for sure. But on one note, if she later decides to do NASCAR full time, JR Motorsports and other associated race entities will probably have dibs on Danica Patrick.
So what I am seeing is a nice strategic move. Of course, she can’t bring Motorola to Cup right now, but that’s way down the road. (No, no no, I’m not starting that rumor yet… Just thinking anlaytically.)

My take on Danica going to the Nationwide Series on a limited basis, is that I don’t look for her to be a threat of any sort! She is a journeyman IRL race car driver at best! She will bring lots a GoDaddy.com and Motorola dollar$$$$! She will aslo bring some long needed hype, and she ain’t too bad looking either!!
But it is going to be very difficult for her to transition to a “door-slammer” race car driver! Maybe she should go to Ft. Hood, TX to learn how to drive a tank, you never know that could be beneficial! Teehee!
