Eli Roth on Attack of The Show

I’ve been waiting.  Sitting and waiting.  Waiting for news on anything Eli Roth when BAM, there we are, staring at a bunch of stuff.  Cool.

I’ve got cool inside news (It’s inside my website at least) on The Last Exorcism, The Other Woman..  reminders on Eli’s other projects like Invasion, Endangered Species, Thanksgiving & The Man with the Iron Fist.  Way down at the bottom of my article is a video interview with Olivia Munn and Eli Roth and a link to Eli’s Twitter account.  It’s so much more informative than his MySpace Blog ever was!  … Great, now everyone is just gonna skip straight to the Munn part!  Here… this will sooth the curiosities until you get there!

Here we go:

1:

Lionsgate snagged U.S. distribution rights for the horror pic project called The Last Exorcism, which is produced by Strike Entertainment, StudioCanal and Eli Roth.  (Um.. eyes here people!  LOL.)

The Last Exorcism, (Previously called Cotton),is about a minister who agrees to let his final exorcism be filmed by a documentary film crew.

It’s directed by Daniel Stamm, written by Huck Botko (Mail Order Wife) &  Andrew Gurland (Mail Order Wife, Cheats).

2:

The same collection of creating forces, Strike Entertainment, StudioCanal and Eli Roth, are bringing the psych thriller, The Other Woman to the big screen.  This is about a man’s ex-mistress who makes a film for her ex…  just showing us the worst possible options that can happen when one has extramarital affairs.

Roth says, it will be about “the worst nightmares of those who have had extramarital affairs, and the sickest fantasies of those who have been scorned.

Older and Interesting Things!

This is just a reminder that we still have a few more projects on the books coming at us from Eli Roth.

These other Eli Roth Films include Invasion, Endangered Species, Thanksgiving and The Man with the Iron Fist!

3:

Invasion is a new project with a script by Ben Magid.  Details are being kept mum, but from what I know, it’s been referred to as a Cloverfield-esque like film and the rumored opening scene starts with a subway accident in Los Angeles and when the survivors of the train wreck (the film’s protagonists) get out from the wreckage, they find themselves in a snowy city in ruins with bodies, mobs of people in a state of panic and acidic goo.

Cinema Static thinks:  NICE!

4:

Endangered Species is the title of the sci-fi flick he’s been workin’ on and is supposed to be a cross between Cloverfield and Transformers, in a big-city being destroyed type film.  (With Cloverfield being mentioned in this and Invasion, I can’t help but worry that some wires are getting crossed out there!  Would these be the same film, or is Eli just heavily inspired by Cloverfield?  I’m going with the latter for now.)

5:

Thanksgiving is a film… well, really a full-length version of a trailer for Grindhouse, where he wants to shoot it in 18 days to keep it as emotional and from the gut as possible!  Sounds like a prequel of sorts if it’s being thought of as the full length trailer.

6:

The Man with the Iron Fist is the Eli Roth / RZA kung fu project.  (Remember, the proper pronunciation of kung fu sounds like gung fu.  Now ya know!)  which gets away from the Grindhouse-like feel and draws some modern feel of projects like Blade into it.

Roth says that RZA is one of the most creative people he’s ever worked with and that they’ve been working on this script all last summer.  He’s also convinced that RZA can turn this into a major movie franchise.

BTW:  RZA is pronounced as rizza and RZA’s name his mother gave him is Robert Diggs.

Eli Roth Video Interview

Here, Olivia Munn from Attack of The Show interviews Eli about the Blu-ray release of Cabin Fever, the award nominated Inglourious Basterds and his thoughts on acting.  BTW:  On Eli’s Twitter account, he indicated he loved chatting with her and will try to cast her in future movies.   I doubt we’ll hear any complaints from my audience on that one!

Cabin Fever: Unrated Director’s Cut on Blu-ray at Amazon

Why does an unrated director’s cut from Roth make me take pause?

Mini Logo - Cinema StaticFor the Cinema Static reader:  I’m always thinking of you guys and trying to find cool things to point you too.  For the Eli Roth fan, this just might qualify…  If you have A TON of time, MEDIAite has a very lengthy article written by Eli Roth.  He’s referred to this as spilling his guts.  MEDIAite.
