Emilie Ullerup has been the focus of many distraught fans of Sanctuary and the actress herself. Cinema Static asked if Ullerup was leaving Sanctuary, and later found out that Ullerup was let go from Sanctuary. She was written off of Sanctuary rather abruptly, at least from the fans point of view.
The latest news is that Emilie has landed a new role in the medium that got her on Sanctuaryt, the web.
Emilie Ullerup landed a role on the web series Riese the Series and will be playing Aliza, a revolutionary, in what they refer to as Chapter 2.
Riese is a sci-fi / fantasy series that takes is source material from history, mythology, folklore and steampunk.
It’s about a young woman and a companion wolf named Fenrir and they travel through a collapsing world as she tries to recall what the fragmented memories are while trying to avoid capture by a dangerous religious cult that hunts her.
It’s filmed with a worthy budget and on the RED camera in high definition.
Riese also stars Christine Chatelain (Sanctuary, Supernatural), Sharon Taylor (Smallville, Stargate Atlantis, Eureka), Patrick Gilmore (Stargate Universe, Battlestar Galactica), Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island, Stargate Atlantis, Taken) and Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary, Caprica, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis).
Sounds like Emilie Ullerup is joining the ranks of a great cast on a great show.
I’ve always said that things happen for a reason, even if they don’t make sense up front. Now we all need to hop on all over and check out this web series, Riese the Series. Let’s support them and add to their fan base and let them know we approve of their hiring choices! See my source and reference links at the end of this article… a whole 3 lines down!
This would apparently be Syfy’s loss as from what I can tell, many are done with Sanctuary with the demise of Ashley. Bad move gang!
Congratulations to Emilie for landing on her feet with this new role!

I totally agree with your statement that this is SyFy’s loss. I was already watching Riese, but speaking as one of those infuriated fans of Emilie Ullerup, this was very welcome news. Can’t wait to see what Emilie and Ryan bring to this great new webseries.
The show doesn’t sound like my sort of thing but i will be taking a look now that emilie ullerup is in it and see if it grows on me. I love emilie ullerup and thought she was an amazing actress on sanctuary. Deeply disappointed that she is no longer on it. The show seems much thinner without her, she carried a lot of the depth of the show in her role and her interactions, especially with her mother. I would have loved to seen her relationship with her father develop (by the way where is he and tesla??? no word about them since they were hunting the cabal which has been wiped from everyone elses minds). I think a lot of people will follow ullerup to future roles and i’m looking forward to seeing her in this one, congratulations emilie and good luck!
I just re-watched four episodes of Sanctuary that I had on my DVR from last season, as well as the last episode with Michael Shanks, and tonight’s episode (12/18/09). Losing Emilie Ullerup was a tragic error of monumental consequence to Sanctuary. Ashley was a vital part of the chemistry and, frankly, Kate Freelander just doesn’t make the cut. I cannot believe they would cut Ashley without a decent explanation, and over the objections of so many fans. The Freelander character adds almost nothing to the show. I DVR the show now, but have trouble sitting down to watch this season, and probably will drop it entirely. The mother/daughter and father/daughter dymanics had the potential to go very far, and the slow-burning sexual chemistry between Will and Ashley – despite his trysts with other female guest characters – looked like it might be a great counterpoint to the thinly disguised attraction between Helen and Will. Really disappointed with the loss of Emilie. Major loss to SyFy and Sanctuary.
You are so right Andy.
