Yes, yes I said it. Fox is taking another swing at Marvel’s Fantastic Four franchise, considering how “well” the last ones took with the movie going audience.
This time around director Josh Trank, the brains behind the 2012 movie Chronicle*, has changed up the game quite a bit on one of the cornerstone properties of Marvel.
The cast of Fantastic Four (2015) includes…
- Miles Teller as Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic
- Kate Mara plays Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman
- Michael B. Jordan plays Johnny Storm / The Human Torch
- Toby Kebbell is Victor Domashev
- Jamie Bell plays Ben Grimm / The Thing
(*Chronicle was a genre movie that I enjoyed. Trank handled this movie well. So I have hopes for this rendition of Fantastic Four)
Normally I hate how directors try to make something their own rather than actually work at creating a quality story line with what they have, but it is also understandable how they must try to stand out with a product they’ve been given a responsibility to make work at the movie theaters.
It’s a big job and there are some that do it well no matter how they approach the story. And with Trank, well, I am going to trust him since he did such a great job with Chronicle. http://brusimm.com/chronicle-movie-review/ .
Be it as it may, this time around, Trank had Simon Kinberg pen the screenplay. Kinberg has the action genre under his belt with a few X-Men films to his credit. If Trank can temper good story into the action that Kinberg is good at, well, this could Fantastic Four reboot work.
With that being said, here’s the film summary for you to digest…
“Four young outsiders teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy”
