‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise Becoming Heist Franchise

It seems that Fast Five is doing pretty good in overseas markets.  So well that Universal Pictures is already looking at a sixth rendition of the franchise and Universal is looking to change the underlying premise of the franchise from cars to heists.

They’re calling this latest release, Fast Five, a transitional story, where the focus will change from the ‘car culture’ and meld it into an action franchise going into the next film, which the studio has referred to as Fast Six.

With the next film looking to revolve around a huge robbery, the transition into the next film will be via a bit of a cliffhanger in Fast Five.

On the bright side, I’m hoping a heist will involve more cool cars.  That and we will also be seeing Dwayne Johnson again in the next film.  He wanted to be in the franchise and approached the studio about it.  That’s sweet news.
