For Those Who Go Around Train Crossing Guards

The other day, a bicyclist was killed while crossing some train tracks in San Jose, CA.  He was killed by a train.

It seems that he tried going around the traffic gates that come down on the streets and sidewalks.

The northbound train had passed, and I guess he thought he knew better and went.

It was the southbound train that killed him.

I hate to sound harsh, but really, what do you expect when those pesky stupid striped gates come down in your path?  They’re not installed to be mere annoyances.

I have to wonder if he’s one of these wonder-folk that ride around without helmets also?

Me?  I like to learn from others behavioral flaws…  it saves me the problems later.
