Funny Ass NASCAR Quote for 9-3-09

in nascar, sports

As you recall, NASCAR upped the number of Chase qualifiers from 10 to 12 (28% of the entry field) a few years back.  Some surmised to get more “name” drivers in the Chase when they don’t perform so well.  IE:  Tony Stewart coming in 11th one year…  and the next year, we had 12 qualifiers.

Whatever that may be, so be it.

Shawn Courchesne, on The Backstretch was lamenting the  use of Twitter and how folks attention spans are now reduced to 140 characters and gave this phenomenal example:

– The good thing about Dale Earnhardt Jr. climbing the standings is that NASCAR will only have to expand the chase field to 20 next year.

Talk about pulse on the system.  Go Dale!  Git ‘er done so we don’t have to have so many new spots in the chase next year!  LOL.

Well if the Top 12 didn’t work and Top 20 won’t work I would suggest maybe they should have a system where NASCAR fans can vote in their favorite driver not currently in the Chase. Then if he won he would be the People’s Champion.

Damn… that would not be a bad idea at all Ryan… either that, or somewhere down the road, the top 40 drivers are in!
