Grey’s Anatomy Review

In the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, things became a very heated set of tensions, all the while, peppered within the angst, were some feel-good moments or points. With Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) newest secret about her tampering with Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) clinical trials being out, things are hot. If you recall, in a drunken state Karev (Justin Chambers) gave her up to Owen (Kevin McKidd). But when questioned, all Grey does is not answer, thinking that will protect the program.

Chief Webber (James Pickens Jr.) was going to fire Grey, but when he discovers that she did this to get the right drugs to his wife who was in the program, he lightens up and only suspends Grey. At this point in time, everyone is hating on Karev.

Yang (Sandra Oh) discovers that she is pregnant, but she’s not having anything to do with it and will not have the baby. This pisses off Owen to the point of where he kicks her out. She’s so damn career driven, she doesn’t even give Owen the opportunity to be part of the decision.

Come on, we know how focused she’s always been about her career.

Meredith and Derek get temp custody of their cute little adoptee, but what horrible timing… they’re a bit ticked off at each other since Meredith destroyed Derek’s drug trial. He’s gone and camped out in the wood frame of the house he’s been having built for the last few years.

Come on, how long does it take to build a house!?

Despite the frustrating parts of this season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, there were a couple of heart warming stories to keep it fresh.

Teddy (Kim Raver) says goodbye to her “husband, Henry (Scott Foley). Teddy is off to live out her days with that rich other guy. After the day’s tragic medical story, she goes back to chat with him, but he tells her to leave him alone, he can only say goodbye to the woman he’s in-love with only once. But in a wonderful turn of events, in one of the best things I’ve seen in the season, Teddy finally figures it out and fesses that she’s falling in love with him.

It’s about time girl!!!

The story underneath it all in this episode was one of massive tragedy, encompassing a single point of hope and life.

An airliner crash kills all but one person. As the families are straggling out of the hospital, one woman realizes that the one lone survivor, a little girl, has none of her family there yet. The woman decides she and her husband should stay, so that the little girl as least has someone at the hospital until family arrives. Then others follow suit and we have a cafeteria full of people, who have just experiences loss, sticking around for this one lone girl.

Human solidarity, in a time of personal darkness, is a wonderful theme to see or experience and as usual, Grey’s Anatomy pulls off a great tear heart-jerker.

Oh yea, and Karev’s self-indulgent move in outing Meredith, eliminated him from the running of Chief Resident. Owen nominates April (Sarah Drew) instead.

The next season of Grey’s Anatomy is going to start out pretty heated. Meredith and Derek at odds with each other, Owen and Yang may very well be on the outs. Karev self-destructed with his outing Meredith and telling Lucy to … um, go away, since she stole his job and all. And how in the heck will April handle her new job responsibilities as chief resident?

We’ll see how things pan out next season! But I have to say, it was a great closer for this season, though not quite as exciting as characters getting shot up and such!
