Hawaii Five-0 will be premiering on Monday, Sept 20th and I am totally looking forward to this new show, a re-imgining of the classic 1968 TV series police procedural that ran for 12 seasons on CBS that starred Jack Lord as Det. Steve McGarrett.

In the new 2010/2011 Fall TV series show, Alex O’Loughlin takes over the iconic role of Det. Steve McGarrett.  Alongside O’Loughlin, Scott Caan will star as Detective Danny “Danno” Williams, Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho Kelly, and Grace Park will be playing Kono Kalakaua.  Peter Lenkov, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

I think it’s great to see Alex O’Loughlin finally get the chance he deserves to hold a role in a TV series with a serious contention to be an ongoing series.  It’s not the popular but specific genre of fantasy TV and it is not an obscure subject matter like organ transplantation.  It is true that this is another police procedural, but it has the chance to rock. Plus on the realistic side of things, I see some great associations that Alex can build in this newest role that can take him far and give us, the Alex O’Loughlin fans, much more upcoming screen time.  Oh hell, it’s great to see this entire lead ensemble get new roles.  They all deserve it!

I don’t think, in this day and age the show will last anywhere as long as the original, but I don’t care.  I hope it cranks it out as well as the original and that folks love it enough to make it a strong contender for the network.  Of course, it’s CBS.  They put on one heck of a show as the dominating network that all the other networks hope to aspire to and CBS usually picks great entertainment to televise.  We should be just fine!

An iconic band plays an iconic brand when “Hollywood Meets Hawaii” in CBS’s promotional campaign for HAWAII FIVE-0, which features the USC Trojan Marching Band performing the series’ theme song on Waikiki Beach and interacting with stars Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim.

The music video was shot on the band’s home field in Los Angeles and also on picturesque Waikiki Beach in Honolulu during the Trojan’s Sept. 2 visit to Hawaii for USC’s kick-off game of the 2010 college football season against the University of Hawaii Warriors.  The video will be presented on-air and online.

Through the years, The Trojan Marching Band has appeared in over 100 movies and television shows and multiple times on the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards.  They have visited 17 countries, marched in 16 Rose Parades and traveled to every USC Football game since 1987-a streak of 284 and counting.

HAWAII FIVE-0 is a contemporary take on the classic series about a new elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime that washes up on the Islands’ sun-drenched beaches.  The series premieres Monday, Sept. 20 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and stars Alex O’Loughlin as Detective Steve McGarrett, Scott Caan as Detective Danny “Danno” Williams, Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho Kelly, and Grace Park as Kono Kalakaua.  Peter Lenkov, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.
