The other day I came across Horrible Bosses and decided to check it out and thought I’d scribble out a quick movie review for you guys. I’m not one to go see comedies, so I never caught this movie in the theaters, but I have to say, this was a surprisingly funny movie.
Basically, it’s about three guys who do have horrible bosses, no pun intended, and through various circumstances, end up plotting to kill them. But of course, that goes horrible wrong in so many ways because these guys are not actually killers.
Directed by Seth Gordon (Four Christmases; On TV: Breaking In), Jason Bateman (Nick), Charlie Day (Dale), & Jason Sudeikis (Kurt).
Their bosses are played by Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, & Jennifer Anniston.
The story develops along and picks up momentum around mid-way and we have ourselves a series of laughable scenarios that almost work out.
For me, the stand out roles were Sudeikis and Anniston… with no disregard to Spacey, Ferrell, Bateman and the other cast… though if you don’t know it at first, it’s quite the surprise to discover that the butt-head boss is Ferrell.
Sudeikis plays this guy who can’t seem to NOT score with women and Anniston plays quite the man-eater… taking every possible opportunity to tease, cajole and corner Dale (Day).
The movie is rated R mostly because of what Anniston says and tries to do… and she really pulls off the hot-looking chick role surprisingly well.
Any way, I was pleasantly surprised at the successfully pulled off stunts throughout Horrible Bosses that ends in a rather satisfying resolution. I’m not sure how I would have felt having seen the movie in the theater, but I was good with it being a rental.
