Before you get buried in this consumer’s product review, this article started out with my whole-hearted consumer report where I fully support and recommend the product Penguin Sport-Wash Laundry Detergent, from Penguin Brands. It is a laundry detergent that does the job that most standard laundry detergents can’t seem to handle when it comes to tech wear for running. Need I say more?

My running career started in July of 2009. Like any regular “Jane or Joe” that might run intermittently, you know how I looked. Do I really have to explain the sweats or biking shorts that I thought would suffice for my intermittent forays into the world of running? (Ug, did I just out myself?)
So yea, there I was for a few weeks, going around a quarter-mile block, but as I got a wee bit faster or ventured into longer runs, I was suddenly apprised by the serious amount of friction burns that my biking shorts weren’t all they were made out to be. Or at least that my biking shorts weren’t designed for running around my whole 1/2 mile blocks. Yea, yea… I build up slow, at my own pace. And yes, they’re called biking shorts… I should have known, I say no more.
As my running developed, (Did my longest run last week, 8 miles!) I started accumulating goodies. I think my first real goodie was the tech tee from my first 5k at the Santa Clarita Marathon! But after that, it just made sense to start accumulating tech wear shorts, tech tees, running socks, head lamp for my midnight runs, etc..
The one thing I have noticed though is that after a period of time, one can’t completely clean their running gear with the regular laundry detergent, and hence, I’ve taken yet one more leap into the world of running with Sport Wash Laundry Detergent.
LOL, I’m falling fast… no, no, no, not while running, but as a consumer while immersing myself in the world of running. But I do have to say that despite the cost of this little bottle in some stores, you may actually find it rather worth while. It has done a very effective job on the extra dirty tech wear and what not that we use in your day-to-day runs.
To quote a user of Sport-Wash Laundry Detergent user
“It takes the persistent odors out.”
That from a customer who has an incredibly sensitive nose!
So I’ve geared up with tech shorts, tech tees, running hats (That are so cool) and other such running gear. (At the following link, I chat about flashlights and headlamps!) The only thing that I’ve not added to my inventory yet is a Garmin. I was thinking about it until I saw the price… if you lived within a few miles of my place, you might have heard the scream.
I really want a Garmin. When I run, I have a generic idea of what direction and guessed at distance I’m going. Then when I get home, I crank up Google Earth, (Which is starting to annoy me these days) and map out my run. A Garmin would definitely lighten my after running chores… but for now, it’s GooEart… (Short for Google Earth, like BruSimm is short for this site’s owner’s name!)
