I just got done watching Jericho, which has been airing on the Syfy Channel all day.

I’ve watched the last few episodes of this really fine show and it’s a shame that it couldn’t have been carried or supported properly by CBS. They’ve got themselves some serious ratings stompers so I understand why this didn’t stick with the show, but dang, this is some well written story.
Jericho ran for 2 seasons from from 2006 to 2008, with a slight interruption because it was canceled after the first season, despite drawing in an average of 9+ million viewers. A raging fan campaign got it a 2nd season. But the 2nd season wasn’t really that well supported by CBS and it floundered with a mere 6+ million average of viewers.
But did you know that there was a 3rd season? No, I’m not smoking anything. They continued the story in a comic-book. Comic books are cheaper to produce and still carry on a story. Not to mention the “special affects” are cheaper, if you count 3-color printing as cheaper! The Jericho comic premieres in November of 2009.
The show was filmed in and around my old stomping ground region. Van Nuys, CA and Filmore, CA.
Stars of the show included

- Ashley Scott as Emily Sullivan
- Erik Knudsen as Dale Turner
- Esai Morales as Major Edward Beck
- Gerald McRaney as Johnston Green
- Kenneth Mitchell as Eric Green
- Lennie James as Robert Hawkins
- Michael Gaston as Gray Anderson
- Pamela Reed as Gail Green
- Shoshannah Stern as Bonnie Richmond
- Skeet Ulrich as Jake Green
There have been RUMORS of a movie, but nothing has come of it and I’m not holding my breath quite yet. CBS still host episodes of Jericho if you want to catch some episodes.

The Jericho story continues in a six part comic series called Jericho Season 3 – Civil War. The 3rd issue will be in stores on March 10th.
It’s wonderful that the Jericho story has been able to continue and I love the new storylines. The story starts with Jake and Hawkins in Texas with the bomb.
A Jericho movie is still in development.
Gwen
Gwen, that’s been said from almost the get-go about the movie being in development. Is there any news of late that indicates something good is coming from that hope? I’d like to think so, but I haven’t seen anything recently!
I love this show!
What was CBS thinking?
The Jericho comic is selling out and has been green lighted to continue past the originally planed six issues and is very well written by the original Jericho writers.
Thanks for your review of Jericho Bruce, many of the fans ”rangers” are still around at different board sites supporting more Jericho. There will be more Jericho wait and see!
No problem BeeBull… any chance I have or find to chat about JERICHO is a good chance. Keep us updated here on BruSimm. Pretty soon, I’ll be adding a contact me page so folks can send me updates. -Bruce
Good review Bruce. I like that series and I’m still holding out a glimmer of hope for more new Jericho on television. But being the practical soul that I am – I am not holding my breath.
Some how I still haven’t figured out why CBS will neither sell Jericho or produce it. Nor can any network be found that wants to buy it. Alas poor Jericho . . . .
Hi Bruce,
The comic series has been expanded past the first six issues.
No more news on the movie, but the fans are in touch with the producers and there have been certain hints that progress is being made.
Hopefully we will know more in the next few months.
There is definitely still a thirst for more JERICHO stories. While it would be great to see new filmed stories, it’s gratifying to see that SyFy continues to schedule viewing marathons of JERICHO’s first two seasons. Somebody must be watching them or the network wouldn’t show them.
And how cool is it that DDP is extending the comic book run? Out here in the interwebs, I keep coming across new fans and new sites mentioning the series all the time.
Even though Jericho had a fairly strong and loyal following back in the day, its too bad more people didn’t discover the show back then. The best show in the last 20 years or so IMO. Love the season 3 comics, keeping my fingers crossed for a movie!
I LOVE Skeet Ulrich.
