IRON MAN 3, starring Robert Downey Jr., Directed by Shane BlackDeadline has reported that Marvel Studios has chosen Drew Pearce to pen the screenplay for the third movie in the Iron Man franchise, or, Iron Man 3!

Drew Pearce brings a very small resume of movies to the Iron Man 3 table, and has most of his experience in writing for the following TV series:

  • How Not to Live Your Life (a comedy)
  • No Heroics (a comedy)
  • Lip Service (a comedy)
  • Damage Control (a comedic reality TV program)

Wha? Who? These are U.K. TV series.

He did write the screenplay for Marvel’s Runaways and that, according to Deadline, is why Marvel hired him.

The statement that confuses me is that he’s starting from scratch. I don’t know what that means… but I can’t imagine another origins film. Seriously. I can’t imagine that’s what they mean, but anything is possible. Or at least that’s what people may be preparing themselves for. I guess the other question is why director Shane Black isn’t writing Iron Man 3.

My take is that we have to trust in the processes and see what happens. Let’s not panic yet folks.

Keep it tuned here to Cinema Static for as much Iron Man news as I can find, I’ll cover it here!
