It would seem that the website Latino Review (LR) has a man on the inside and reporting their observations from the sets of Iron Man 3, which is under production (primary filming) in Wilmington, NC, right now.
The new actor that was spotted around the Iron Man 3 sets was William Sadler.
They don’t know what role he’ll be playing, but Sadler, for me, is a mainstay of entertainment. He’s held roles in fifty-six movies and sixty-seven TV series, in one facet or another.
I first saw his work in Roswell, and then through the years, in shows like Wonderfalls, Traveler, The Pacific, Hawaii Five-o and Fringe. An upcoming TV project of Sadler’s is called Gilded Lilys.
On the large silver screen, he’s been in movies like Die Hard 2, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist, and of late, Man on a Ledge. Other upcoming movies for Sadler include Frank the Bastard, Greetings from Tim Buckley and Melvin Smarty.
I guess we can possibly add Iron Man 3 to the list.
Some may consider the following to be movie plot SPOILERS:
That’s fine by me, as the movie is adding more and more characters to the fray. My first thought about Sadler was that maybe he’d be playing Mallen, the man from the Extremis story line that first gets infected (or upgraded) by Extremis and puts a whooping on Iron Man, forcing Stark to turn to the Extremis tech himself to put them on even ground.
But then I took note of an interesting perspective that LR had in an earlier post:
You see I’ve been wondering about the addition of Coldblood… who is more a mercenary and neutral or chaotic-good kind of character than a villain. But folks keep thinking this addition of Coldblood to IM3 is a villains role. That being said, I do see in the characters history, that he was at odds with Tony Stark about Stark’s backing of the Hero Registration Act that took place in the Marvel universe.
(Which had me wondering if the inclusion of Coldblood, aka, Eric Savin (James Badge Dale), could mean we have the hero registration act in the story of IM3. But it seems pretty busy as it is with all these new roles being added of late.)
But LR has surmised that Marvel might be twisting up the character of Savin and instead of making him out to be the Coldblood we know, that Savin is will be the Extremis injected enemy that Tony Stark/Iron Man will be facing off against.
I had been wondering how they might tweak up the characters and this seems to fall in line with my suspicious curiosities.
As it stands, Iron Man 3 is coming to theaters in May of 2013.
It will be interesting to see now only the continuing saga of Tony Stark, but what stories might be moved along from the Marvel universe and what teaser they’ll have in store of us in the credits. I would think the next Thor movie, Thor 2, which is due out in November of 2013.
