It seems that Fox and 20th Century Fox TV are looking to not go beyond the end of this season of the Keifer Sutherland action drama, 24.
Confirmation of this decision will be coming in the next day or so.
So why are they considering this move to not renew 24?
Ratings decrease and rising costs. Regardless, the franchise is still appealing enough for 20th Century Fox to ponder the idea of a movie. In fact they’ve already hired Billy Ray (State of Play) to write the screenplay.
This movie could also be the impetus for dropping the show from TV. A movie can’t be made while 24 is being produced for TV. Too pricey of a proposition to try and pull off both at the same time.

I’m betting the show will now end on a cliffhanger.
Within months of the season finale you should hear news on the film…
Fascinating, and yet perfectly sensible logic of timing. I mean hey, television is all about marketing and and timing!
