Is Google Killing The Longtail Search Result? [An Infographic]

GoogleIt’s bad enough competitive websites snag ideas from each other and ping content off each other in their cliques, but f what I’m seeing is true, it seems that Google is slowly, and quietly making it harder for the small-fry website to succeed, while driving more business in a direction that might seem more profitable for itself in the long run.

Looking at SEOBooks infographic on the subject, they point out various aspects that at first seemed helpful to this web surfer, but in reality, the way things are put here, seem to be geared towards eliminating the small fry and only allowing the corporate entities to rule the web.

The infographic points out things like vertical Google brands, your websites size versus the number of pages on your website, and a few other things.

One of those items in the Google infographic is that keywords are no longer provided to website owners… in other words, you’ll get traffic but your tally of incoming traffic will be short of critical information like what keywords got traffic there.  So basically, some of the most relevant information that all website owners could rely on, seem to no longer be available to them.

If you look at the graphic, it implies that Google is now favoring paid search traffic.

Heck, they even point out that Google has its own scraper sites and that the reason for quietly killing the long tail search is money.

To be honest, though this can hurt me & my site in the long run, it makes sense from a business standpoint.  It funnels results down to the real entities, the real businesses out there and leaves the small fry websites more out in the cold.  And even though a business entity such as Google was probably plotting and planning this for a long time, they must have seen some fascinating stats over the last few years.  I guess that because even in this down turned economy, they were still making the huge bucks.  And if you see something that works, focus on it and bring it to the forefront!

Check out the SEO Book infographic, you’ll see that they bring up some fascinating points.
