Is Kurt Busch Replacing Allmendinger at RPM??? [NASCAR]

NASCAR News and opinion from NASCAR BITS & PIECES on Brusimm.comThe talk of the town today has been that Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) is looking at bringing Kurt Busch on board to helm the No. 43 Ford in the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

This development has been brought about because it looks like for RPM to retain one of their sponsors, Best Buy, they have to look at Kurt Busch.

Best Buy has been a long-time sponsor for the team and in this market, sponsors are very hard to come by.

Of course, needless to say, if Kurt Busch lands in the No. 43 car, that means more than likely that A.J. Allmendinger is out of that car, and probably out of a ride.  But that’s only my conjecture on his status.

And unless Allmendinger gets another ride somewhere, I’m thinking that ‘Dinger fans are going to be upset with RPM and Best Buy.  And NASCAR fans do have long memories.

It’s obvious that Kurt Busch has the potential talent to wheel a car and for him to become available, via, whatever process responsible, then so be it.  Business is business.

But at the expense of Allmendinger definitely hurts his efforts to continue to get to the front of the racing crowd.

A.J. has been straggling to get there for a few years now, and though he’s not in the best, top-notch gear out there, I thought he was getting better, with ten top-10 finishes.

We’ll see what happens next.  Right now, this is NOT news, it’s potential news.  But the sponsor needs to weigh out if they want the foul-word slinging Kurt Busch in their camp.  This could turn a few dollars away from their coffers, plus, how will fans feel, that if Busch lands this ride, that he really had no time in the penalty box, so to speak?

I was actually expecting to not see him in the ranks in 2012, but hey, anything can happen.  We’ll see, that’s for sure.
