Is Mark Harmon Leaving NCIS? – Hint – Don’t Worry

To calm your nerves, I don’t think Mark Harmon is leaving NCIS but Michael Ausiello gave me quite the scare.

He said that while chatting with Mark Harmon at PaleyFest 2010, he asked him about a previous report he wrote saying that Gibbs will be making a life-changing decision that will affect the entire team in the upcoming season of NCIS.

Harmon’s response was that he didn’t think that was the case (about him leaving) but supported the premise if he thought that would help the show’s story line.

But he did indicate his contract still has significant time.  Thank god…  If Gibbs ever left, who’d be around to smack DiNozzo in the back of the head?

Now, we just have to wonder what that important decision is that Gibbs will be making?

As a retired community theater director, I say without any hesitation that the one thing that tops the factors behind the success of NCIS is the acting. Every single one of these actors is superb, defining his or her character with laser-beam accuracy. The difference between the lothario Dinozzo and the multi-degreed, high IQ’ed McGee is finely characterized by the actors, who never get out of character, never did and never will, I’d say. The same goes for Ziva, Kate before her, and Abby whose characterizations are so palpable, I can’t expect any of them to get off unless the script calls for it. (Excellent writing, by the way!) Lauren Holly I do miss, and her Director Jenny was outstanding. Lauren is far from being a stock actor; I’ve seen her in different roles and theater genres, all of which she did excellently. Rocky Carroll maintains his wry director image, hardly smiling, but with intelligence peering out of his unblinking stare. (I could do without that toothpick!) He is not a Director Jenny, far from it. He has his own image to maintain, and he does. And Ducky! The man from UNCLE is certainly very believable as the very knowledgeable M.E. who talks to his corpses, shows so much compassion and shares the love of each one in the team for one another; so different from the Iilya who appeared in a recent episode of “Leverage” as a traitor and despicable ex-partner to Robert Vaughn’s character. And Mark Harmon! What can I say? I’ve seen him also in very different roles, my favorite being that of a mentally-challenged father who fought for custody of his children. Can’t remember the title of the show, but I certainly can’t forget that father. (Mark is also one of only two actors whose smile, to me, is just absolutely most heart-warming, the other being McGyver, I mean Richard Dean Anderson.)

I do hope NCIS, with these players, will continue to fulfill everyone’s thirst for a simply great TV show, the best there is, I might add. If soap operas can continue on for years and years, NCIS should be allowed and made sure by the powers-that-be to do so. Please…..

NCIS,one of the best shows one TV ever. Two things I’d like to know. Will Ralph Waite be back as Gibbs father? He’s great. Have loved his work for a long time. Next, I know Sean Murry has lost some weight and he’s looking good. But I’ve noticed a change with his voice. Is there anything wrong?

NCIS is probably one of the best shows on television today. It is one where all the characters fit into the story line. I would hope that C.B.S. would never think of killing off Gibbs if your going to kill off anyone make it Mageek! If Mark Harmon ever leaves the show that will be the day I stop watching and I have been a dedicated fan since the show started. It just helps me relax my mind after a long day when I can come home and have this show on to watch.
