Word on the street is that John Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness from the Doctor Who franchise spin-off, Torchwood, has landed a recurring role in an American TV series on The CW.

Stephen Amell in ARROW

That recurring role is in the new Green Arrow TV series, called Arrow.  (Hey!  You forgot the green!)  Arrow stars Stephen Arnell and Katie Cassidy and will be premiering on October 10th.

Everyone, at the moment, is playing mum about Barrowman’s role right now, except for the hint that his character is a friend of the Queen family, is wealthy, mysterious and a prominent figure in Starling City.

I’ve enjoyed Barrowan’s energetic portrayal in Torchwood, as well as his quirky original appearances on Doctor Who.  But will he bring that flamboyant, flippant energy to The CW’s new show?  It would definitely be interesting if he did, but I’m suspecting he might be more toned down.

We’ll see.
