JONAH HEX - starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox

Jonah Hex starred Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox, Michael Fassbender and Will Arnett. Its runtime was 1 hour and 21 minutes. It was rated PG-13. (OK, still is actually.) Despite what looked like an awesome fun cast, it didn’t seem to help how the movie performed at the box office.

The movie was based on the DC Comics title of the same name.

The budget for the movie cost Warner Bros. Entertainment and Legendary Pictures an estimated $47 million and it made about half of its money on opening weekend. No, not half of the investment.  It made half of its total take on the opening weekend and it didn’t do so hot on opening weekend.  To be honest, to sat it crashed at the box office would imply it took off.  It didn’t.

It’s been out for 53 days at the time of this article and it has only brought in just over $10.5 million.

Over on IMDb, over two thousand users weighed in and gave the movie a 4 out of 10.  At Rotten Tomatoes, where the more discerning or more brutal of crowd hangs out, it has a 14% rating.

Doesn’t even sound like it would be a decent rental. The one thing I have noticed is that I see no worldwide numbers for it.  Looking into that, I see that worldwide openings just started last week.

Here are some upcoming, overseas opening dates:

  • Australia – 5 August 2010
  • Malaysia – 5 August 2010
  • Kazakhstan – 12 August 2010
  • Argentina – 26 August 2010
  • Estonia – 3 September 2010
  • Netherlands – 9 September 2010
  • Norway – 10 September 2010
  • Portugal – 16 September 2010
  • Poland – 17 September 2010
  • Finland – 24 September 2010
  • Italy – 1 October 2010

Maybe it will get to $11 million by years’ end?  Just thought I’d toss that out there, plus gave me an excuse to toss out a Megan Fox picture! :P   (I wonder if she bashed this director too?)
