Law & Order: What Is NBC and Dick Wolf Planning?

Earlier today word on the street was that NBC was looking to let Law & Order go by the wayside.  In other words, cancel Law & Order!  Later reports on THR were then saying that NBC was scrambling to renew Law & Order.

It seems the cancel rumors were starting to swirl when Dick Wolf was rejecting a low-ball license fee offer.

The cancel rumors actually came from Dick Wolf’s office, if you can believe that!  Seems kind of dirty, but business is business, and he may doing what he can to tilt the negotiation scales in his favor.

If Law & Order gets renewed, it will be the 21st season the show will be on television and that would be a record, beating out Gunsmoke as the longest-running drama in TV history.

If anything, I’d like to see it break the record.  That would make us, the TV viewing fans, a part of history.  As subtle or small as it might seem, it’s still be history that we could say we watched.  And then we would recant how many of those 21 years we watched.  Me, I’d be 21 for 21.  That’s all I’m saying.
