Hey gang, back in September, we learned that A&E had cancelled Longmire, via not renewing the Robert Taylor starrer for a fourth season. That despite being the network’s most watched “original drama series.”
It is confusing when a TV series that is doing well for a network gets sheet-canned. I can only surmise that a critical relationship in the underpinnings of the show fell apart. That and little clues like the series getting a weak lead-in show on the night it aired.
Others surmised that A&E was looking to trim the fat from their profits because they have been striving to own their own shows, while Longmire was not a show they owned, aka, produced.
When the cancel note went out from A&E, a few things took place. Fans went nuts and the producers of Longmire went right to work trying to find a new home. And they did just that.
NETFLIX to the rescue.
After approaching several opportunities, Netflix took them up on their offer to produce a fourth season. Yay.
The fourth season of the show will pick up mere moments after events in the third season closer, but be warned, there my be a loss of a character in the upcoming season.
Netflix signed up for a 10-episode fourth season.
Longmire is set for a 2015 premiere on Netflix and is based on the Longmire mystery novels by Craig Johnson. It’s called a contemporary crime thriller set in Wyoming that stars Taylor as Walt Longmire, the dedicated sheriff, along with Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley.
Production is expected to kick in gear in March of 2015.
