Lost Final Season, Or Is It?

Lost in a bottle contest

The goods on the 6th and final season of Lost are starting to float around out there, but they’re not really goods.  They’re just more answerless clues being tossed out there to draw us in.

When the 6th season kicks in, it will do so exactly where the 5th season left off:  Ben just killed Jacob, Locke is really dead and Juliet disappears in a nuclear explosion…  which seems to make sense to me if you’re in the middle of a nuclear explosion.  Heck, it doesn’t even have to be nuclear to disappear!

What we do know:  Libby and Michael will be back.

The ending of the 6th season will generate some attention, like The Sopranos did.

Yet despite all the hoopla about the ending season, ABC is dropping hints that it might not be ending.

ABC wants to extend it and retain the integrity of the franchise.  Yet, more than likely, exec producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse won’t go on with the franchise.

Or as ABC marketing exec VP Mike Benson said:

“We want to keep it alive but make sure we maintain the integrity of the franchise. We’re not about milking this thing for all that it is right now; it’s important to see this live for years to come.”

Yet, Cuse says (or thinks) there are no spinoff plans…  thank god, unless that’s the newest mystery.

Yet, according to Variety, any and all ideas are on the table for that long-term strategy.

ABC thinks that LOST can be a Star Trek for them, what with all the incarnations and continuations in different movies and such.

For now, any promo for Lost season 6 only includes scenes from past seasons.  A true promo and not a teaser.

But once the 815 fans win the Lost trivia contest and receive their USB clip in a bottle, they do expect that video to go viral shortly there after.

That will be our first true preview of the show.
