Right now, the news on the street is that Michael Weatherly, who plays Anthony DiNozzo on NCIS, has yet to have signed a contract for the next season. Add to that his own statement about this season’s NCIS finale being a Gibbs-centric finale and that it will be dramatic has everyone wondering.
He has equated this season to season 2 when Caitlin died and that if you’ve been paying attention this season, you’d see things building up.
But I don’t see anything anywhere about Weatherly and future plans for anything but NCIS. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything… but still, usually some kind of news gets out on various things.
The only thing I’m finding is that he’s made a few TV appearances. The Early Show, Live With Regis and Kelly, Entertainment Weekly.
That does make me ponder what’s up. It’s possible contract negotiation pressure. His “people” are negotiating with studio “people” for next year and when asked how it’s going… Weatherly says he trusts his people and took the moment to note that the network upfronts are coming up soon. Upfronts are where networks sell their shows to advertisers. Part of the selling routine is showing them what they have… shows, cast, etc..
I think there might be some slight issue going on and he’s been told to get out there and make a public impact. I could be wrong. I’m purely speculating. We’ll see and I’ll keep an eye out gang!
