After four years of faithfully fulfilling her duties as one of the staff of the Miss Sprint Cup representatives, Monica Palumbo is bidding farewell to the NASCAR Sprint Cup ambassador job.
Monica will be stepping down at the conclusion of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.
In her farewell announcement, she does not say where she’s headed off to, but does say that it is time to close this chapter on her life and to start a new one.
She tossed out a thank you to “Anne-Marie, Amanda, Paige, Kim and Jaclyn – the women who’ve also lived this job.”
She also noted some cool highlights from her experience as being Miss Sprint Cup:
“I’ve been inspired by the wounded warriors and heroes of our American armed forces at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. My heart almost stopped when I was allowed to see San Francisco from the top of the Golden Gate Bridge … HOLY MOLEY, what a view!!!!
I’ve met so many interesting people. I’ve interviewed the band Foreigner. I met “hot tamale” Tom Cruise! I’ve had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game (fastball, down the middle, of course), attend the CMA Music Fest and even appear in a national commercial for Sprint. I would never have done any of this without becoming Miss Sprint Cup!”
It’s true that in the past I’ve been a bit harsh on the presentation of the Miss Sprint Cup team. Even last weekend in my NASCAR Twitter feed, I was trashing just a bit on the girl (One of the Miss Sprint Cup members) because during the TV interview, she was literally riding the collar of our race winner.
But their job is to get exposure to the sponsor of our favored sport and to do other publicity work for the brand and the sport. All in all, from what I’ve seen, it’s a crazy busy and as Monica indicated, a very busy job.
So with that, I wish to send a heart-felt “Thanks Monica!” from NASCAR Bits & Pieces here on Brusimm, and good luck in your future ventures.
And of course, I’ll be keeping my nose to the grindstone to find out where she’s headed. As soon as I know, YOU will know. Time to start snooping!

Sure gonna miss you Monica. You are the greatest. In my opinion, the best Sprint Cup Girl ever!
Monica,
We’re hoping you read these comments… Thanks for taking an active interest and supporting our Ohio Spay Neuter fund raiser all of these years. I’m trying to reach you – only have your previous Cup link to do so which is not good anymore. I don’t Tweet (there’s still a few of us around) but would like to email U if possible. Plz contact me so we can stay in touch. Know you were hoping to help with a rescue program in the future – so want to stay in touch.
Monica,
It is with sadness that I see you have left Miss Sprint Cup and did not know about you leaving until just now.
I met you in Nashville 3 or 4 years ago at the Speed and Sound event here and I found you so charming and delightful, and accommodating, as you poised for several pictures with me. I always looked for your smiling face in the winners circle after each race. I know the other ladies are so beautiful too, but you had a quality that made you so special. I will miss you so much.
I wish you could let me know what you will be doing now, and I know you will be successful in whatever you are involved in.
I would love to hear back from you.
Sincerely,
Jim Allen
Jim, she’s working at Speed channel now as a Social Media Reporter…
